Essex or Trincomalee

Each have their pros and cons, but wich one would you recommend?

I recommend the Essex, definitely. Of course I don't own and have never played this game, but hey: you asked! :D (seems like kinda dead forum)

The Essex is a good ship for capping vessels, good crew size with the addition of Additional Hammocks. I have a Trin but have not tried it in combat.

If you're fighting an NPC ship, a Trinc with carronades on both decks gives unmatched broadside weight for a 5th rate (Not sure about the Indefatigable or Endymion though, haven't played since they were introduced), vs a player I'd say Trinc edges out the Essex, but only barely

Imo Essex all day ever day... no chasers but it just feels better; the Trinc feels too... anorexic. Beefier, better turner, heels better, bit less broadsides on paper but its all in the trinc's 22x9lbers (vs 12x12 on essex) on the second deck which at this stage are unreliable and just take up more crew.
Blah blah blah carronades... if you aren't on the pve server we'll assume you know better by now and leave it there.

if u can dont take essex or trinc better take indefatigable u should have a gifted one in your reedemables its broadside wheigt is higher than the trinc with both decks 42 pd carronades its got more hp better armor good crew and front chasers

Trinc has 4 bow chasers while the essex has none. It also has a bigger broadside weight (carros), although it can only mount 9pdrs longs on the weather deck where the essex can mount 12s. But if you're going for carros, the Trinc is better. It's also a little bit faster than the essex.
One of my biggest problems with the trinc is the heeling. You can get unlucky and get a massive amount of leaks shot into you when you're not careful and expose your ship when it's heeling as the trinc does.
When it comes to the turnrate, the trinc does worse than the essex. (Base stats of 2.56 to 3.11) That difference can be crucial in a small battle fight (something like 15v15 player frigates).

My conclusion: For OW PVP I'd take the trincomalee. The 4 bow chasers really do help, and it's faster aswell. But for bigger battles, where speed isn't as important as turning with your enemies and preventing them from getting a good shot on you (which can be deadly onto a trinc when it's heeling), I'd go for the Essex.
If you're looking for a ship for PVE levelling, turning probably isn't that important and it just comes down to the broadside weight, so the Trinc would probably be the best choice there.

Il just mention that the Indie will have higher broadside weight as she can carry 42pd carronades on both her weather deck and gun deck

essex has better sailing profile then trinc
