New repair mechanic
Im new to the game, but I started playing it BEFORE the wipe happened, so, can somebody explain me the new hull repair mechanic (maybe its an obvious thing but I dont get it).

1. Buy Hull repairs, Rig repairs and Rum in the shop (at least 10 of each for one battle repair, more for rum).
2. Place them in the hold of your ship
3. In battle you can repair as before, but there is a countdown of 10 mins before you can repair again. You can either repair hull or sails, but not both at the same time.

theres no hull repair kits and rum in french main port... not resources for crafting that either. have to really try luck in different ports? :/

NPCs don't sell repairs - only players do - but there are some repairs in free towns (players sell them there because NPC buy repairs at good prices)

You can farm repairs on NPC combat ships

bit more things on repair kits....

Since the roll out the Hull & Rig Repair Kits plus the Rum rations, become an important feature once a player is out of his BASIC Cutter.

The Hull & Repair kits are the basic way any player can and should get involved in crafting. They are very easy to do and should be a core feature of strategy. To rely on buying them solely is not advisable. I've explained already the How to craft in a thread here somewhere...

In use...
Hull & Rig repairs
Each 1 repair will repair 100 Hit Points. Hull repairs Armor, structure while Rigging Sails and masts.

In Battle
When you trigger the repair function whichever one it will take 5x repair units.

So make sure you look at the template of the ship you own. Example say a Brig. Take the Hull figure and the Sails figure to calulate amounts needed for repiars. Don't overload the hull with kits that simply will never get used and slow you down.

Since the Hotfix the Hull and Rig repairs share the same cool down period. So hit Hull, you'll need to wait for the cool down to finish before you can repair the sails...

In OW...
Here the repairs and rum will take as much as is required to repair and is not fixed...


Keep a close watch on HotFix's as this area of NA will probable have more tweaks and changes...

Rum is only important if your leadership skill is low. Once your leadership skill is high enough, always keep enough free crew around to recrew your ship(s). Rum is too bloody expensive.
(Keep one in to circumvent the leave port warning. :steamhappy: )
