Report a translation problem
1. "Her grabs aren't that powerful" - you're not doing Zangief's Spinning Piledriver damage, but Mika has a load more movement options.
2. "She doesn't have armor like Zangief has" - and she's not slow like Zangief and doesn't her VSkill 1 have a level of armor? Maybe others?
3. "Grappling range is as anyone elses" - quick air grab isn't something everyone has, and it's not just about "grappling", command grabs can't be teched by normal grabs.
4. "Her only advantage, the fast light attacks" - it's the mobility. Of course it would be "on par", no character can really dominate all the others in terms of normals or players would just use that character and spam. Which you could say DOES happen, sure, but it's not like one is super imba dominant.
Then Mika has that annoying tag team partner . . .
Really seems like you just haven't looked into R Mika. Yeah you have some idea of her basic normals and moves, but I mean using her as a character, her mixups, her pressure, her corner game.
I'd say look up some guides, watch some top Mika play.

Like me, I'm a Blanka player (and not even a good one). And you look at Blanka, he's 4-frame not 3-frame, ugh. Just about all his attacks, opponent just jab spams, easy. No fireball. Combos aren't that great either, need a lot of meter for just a little damage.
And Blanka has options? Like what? Amazon River Run slides under fireball, and is so slow to recover if you whiff you get punished, if you get blocked you get punished, it's too slow to use on reaction so you have to just GUESS your opponent's reads.
But then you look deeper into the character. Like Amazon River Run has a Vtrigger cancel, loads of unsafe stuff but that lends to mixup, etc.
So I don't know that I could agree Blanka was "dominant" but I don't think Blanka sucks either. I suck at USING Blanka, but as a character I think he's pretty decent.
Mka still hella good. You have to apply a lot of pressure. I suggest searching guides on tube.

Still it feels like it worth the effort. Out of the entire roster, she is one of the few that clicks for me.
Obviously Mika suffers a lot against some matches. For example, zoning characters that control through fireball give Mika a lot of trouble. To prevail her strongest characteristic, it is necessary to get closer. So she is not a viable character for all matches, so be aware that there will be matchups that will be extremely disadvantageous for her.
Also something else. Is it because latency that sometimes it feels like some attacks get countered when it shouldn't? Like I start an enhanced flying peach and even though I do see the start of the attack the other player just grabs me with a normal. Or like a normal overpowers an enhanced command grab, or how a light punch sometimes counters a grab and sometimes a grab ignores the attack completely.
Look up delay tech to cover both meaty and grab on wake up. But u cant just use it all the time because it gets blown up by other stuff.

Every move has startup frames, aktive frames and recovery frames. It's possible to be thrown while being on startup. Some moves are throw invincible, some aren't. You need to look at the frame data for that but it could of course also be rollback causing this.
Tbh if you want advice on Mika, I highly recommend going to New Challengers or the Mika discord because you'll get better answers in those places than the Steam forums.
That's only partially an insult to this forum, NCH and the character discords are generally the best places for this kind of stuff.
That's why I am currently struggling (mostly because I have to rewire my brain to act differently with her). Most characters seem to be able to react instantly on wake up punishing players attacking before they stand up. Of course you can trick them into exposing themselves with that move but still, it feels weird that she doesn't have one except her CA. And her basic combos have a pretty short range meaning sometimes I am not even close enough to counter attack when I block a reversal.
I will give it a try.
Doesn't seem like it. I don't think a single EX of hers can be used as a reversal. Maybe I am biased but it feels she should have at least one. Especially considering that shotos can do extremely damaging combos simply by hitting you on wake up with an EX DP.
