LAN function?
I know this isn't some 16+ player FPS game or anything, but I still think a LAN function could be nice and convenient for certain situations

How many people would actually utilize LAN? You either play the game sitting side by side or if you really wanted a head to head situation... just hook up 2 monitors. I don't see any situation where it would be worth the time and money to add that feature.

it could potentially have use for tournaments, say, you bring your own set up and join the "tournament bracket LAN" instead of having to get up and move around etc, maybe a bit silly I know. Me personally, i hate sitting side by side, it's different than playing isolated. Sometimes they can guess what youre doing by listening to your inputs etc.. Only reason I ask is because I don't feel like it would cost them much money/time to implement, not that it's a high priority or anything... What if they decide to take the servers down some day? I kinda view it as a form of simple insurance for expanded network play besides on one machine atleast.

This is pointless. Nobody in the fighting game community runs tournaments like this. The closest thing to this is running a head to head setup, but even that still only uses a single console/PC with the video just split between two monitors.

There are already tournaments running USF4 on PC with no LAN and just hooking up 2 monitors fine- http://www.twitch.tv/leveluplive/v/22959251?t=2h12m15s

there's your solution, without ever needing a LAN

If we're talking about local tournaments then we wouldn't have a reason for LAN play.

As D3Vlicious mention, not a single fighting game tournament runs by this format. Since it's cost & space efficient to have one console and one screen.

I understand that isn't the norm, but let's look at this way.. You know how SSF2 had a tournament battle edition with abunch of linked cabs running on a bracket? this is kind of what im talking about, for a tourney perspective anyways. LAN is just a convenient feature and has uses outside of that. I have a monitor with less input lag than what's use at EVO usually for example, so having to adjust is annoying. It'd be nice to bring your own set up is all i'm saying, outside of the fact that maybe you have a PS4 and a PC etc on the same network capable of running the game

i am pretty sure that your most likely the only one on this board who would like to have such a feature....its not in and it will not make it into the game.

and i'm pretty sure youre right and I knew this before hand, but i'd like to ask anyways,, Coming from Quake, it's just nice to use the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ you got at home.. Like I said, the servers will go down someday, and who knows when an SF6 will be

it'd literally probably take less than a day to implement, i mean who asked for a custom HUD? i like custom huds alot, but no one asked for that.. and if i had made a thread about that i'd probably get the same response.. This brings up another subject, using your own personal settings. things like force colors/costumes (maybe you hate gimmick outfits like me) personal sound settings, etc... This game is based off unreal engine mind you, infact the LAN function is probably already there, it just needs proper implementation

when they turn the servers for online multiplayer out you will be just able to play offline, if it has a lan feature or not.

you dont need any server or lan to play with a guy next to you?!

I should also point out having a LAN feature would encourage piracy of the game since then people could use tunneling software to play online with other pirates rather than just buy a legit copy of the game.

I think you taking a couple minutes to hook up 2 monitors to a single PC is far more worth the effort than Capcom opening their game up to pirates.

or, you know, they could just do that with their pirated copies as well. So that point is kind of null

Most of you are probably from umvc3 or sf4 probably, a little behind the times in professional set ups I'm afraid. people who play on ARC/PC for tournaments would understand this a bit more, You know, since they've implemented LAN features into arcade games, including street fighter, which I brought up previously. Just forget it and delete the thread, I'm talking to a wall here.
