Gill has better long range options and is more of a defensive character. Although he does have some pretty powerful setups using ice trigger. His EX moves unlike Urines are not about pressure but about setting the enemy on fire or ice so he can use his Retributions mehanick.
Gill is mediocre in many things, is rather hard to use (retribution mechanics) and isnt good enough as typical rush-down character nor as good zoner. He is something in-between so nobody really knows how to play him well to full potential. He has INSANE parry and very good anti airs which are both hard tools to use correctly by beginners. Pick gill if you want to play exotic character with many unique mechanics and a lot of space for experiments.
1) Urien has EX wakeup headbutt
2) Aegis Reflector (Best Vtrigger in entire roster while Gills vtrigger sucks bad)
Ice mine is an amazing mixup tool.
Gill is zoning-hybrid archetype with strengths & weaknesses.
