Wtf Capcom? How can the exclusion of characters "for story reasons" be justified if a key player is missing from the story?
Capcom has done this all the time; Effie accompanying Necro and Poison with Hugo in 3S. R. Mika's trainer, Harmageddon Yoko, would drive by on a golf cart holding a shinai to give her "mad props on that savage" in Alpha. Nadeshiko's first appearance was in a solitary piece of promotional art for Alpha 3:

What I like is that this is the first time a secondary character has been adapted into the actual gameplay.
