Evo's ESPN Viewership Results are In
http://shoryuken.com/2016/07/19/street-fighter-vs-espn2-viewership-results-over-201k-tuned-in/
Evo’s finals reached over 201,000 viewers through ESPN2, in addition to 213,927 Twitch viewers and 182,716 on the main stream. This puts Evo viewership well in line with E-LEAGUE, and removes any doubt that there is indeed a future for this sort of fighting game tournament coverage.

SRK is closely tied to EVO. Anything they say about EVO is pure propaganda. It's prime-time on a weeknight. At this exact moment, League of Legends, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, CoD:Black Ops, Dota 2, and CS:GO are all drawing (at least) x2 as many viewers as SFV.

EVO is the one tournament that draws viewers. The only reason is that it is the super bowl of fighting games. A typical fighting game tournament will have less viewers than LoL on a slow day.

Don't even bring up major sports. NBA, NFL... even Nascar... all draw millions of viewers.

Oh but maybe I'm just some salty troll right? Prove me wrong. You check this link every day.

Let me know when SFV goes over 100k. I'm willing to bet that won't be until EVO 2017.

I think he's trying to say the views are ♥♥♥♥ compared to the games he listed.

lol. I guess he doesn't know much about EVO and how this is a pretty big deal that SF5 was on ESPN 2 lol all views combined together is pretty dang huge for EVO and I am proud of what EVO has accomplished

Chasing the Cup is not even remotely comparable. It was more of a reality TV show format rather than simply a tournament (which will have a larger appeal to non-FGC audience), was on prime time, and on CW which is broadcast television. It also didn't have to split the audience with Twitch (minus those that were double dipping).

All things considered 201k is pretty decent for a start.

We need to count in the novelty factor though. Let's see how many people will want to watch Nash mirrors next year...

This is really good news. Loads of people have grown up with games and it's finally really good to see it paying off.

That's a tiny amount of viewers considering millions watch ESPN NFL games and sports coverage. Very low ratings in the TV market and it's probably many of the stream monsters turning on espn2 to support it that added to the very similar twitch and tv numbers of viewers. I had both espn and twitch on for the little I watched of it to see how espn was covering it vs twitch. Needless to say I couldn't watch much of the boring game, but very low numbers from espn2 and i and others double dipped our viewing of it, so it isn't an entirely seperate viewer base for espn.
