Story Mode is cool, but anyone still missing ARCADE Mode?
I really enjoyed the Story Mode. It is elaborated, with a lot of dialogs and contextualized fights, but I still miss the classic Arcade Mode (a.k.a. ladder or super battle).

The classic formula of choosing your own character and fighting against 8 random CPU opponents + Bonus Stages + Final Boss in 3-round battles is awesome and what makes Street Fighter so special and nostalgic.

Is that hard for Capcom do to a simples 8 CPU opponent fight in order + a final boss?

"Continue? 9... 8.... 7...."

Ok so Ive gone thru EVERY fighting game in my Steam library.

BlazeBlue...ARCADE MODE
Guilty Gear...ARCADE MODE
KOF 13...ARCADE MODE
Injustice...arcade mode but they just call it battle mode or some ish
Mortal Kombat 9...arcade mode but they call it ladder mode
Mortal Kombat X...arcade mode not even gonna bother loading it to check I know its got arcade mode towers ladders whatever

Ultra Street Fighter 4...ARCADE MODE
Do you read what I write at least? BB, GG, KOF13, SF4... were all RELEASED IN THE ARCADES before hitting the consoles. That's why they have an Arcade mode. Do you even wonder why the three NRS titles who were never released in the arcades only have kind of replacements of Arcade mode?

Street Fighter 5...only effing game I ever seen or played that I can recall and NO arcade mode or ANYTHING vaguely resembling it. Dont tell me Survival mode is arcade mode Im not even gonna debate that stupidity.
KOF14, I already told you. It's just you who assume that it will have something resembling an Arcade mode without any evidence, because you don't wanna accept the simple truth that the life of Arcade mode has died with the Arcade machines and developers prefer spending their time developing online modes, story, challenges and other kind of new content rather than a mode that serves no real purpose anymore.

P.S. Easy Survival is 10 fights with a set final boss (Necalli) that's harder than previous battles. Basically an Arcade mode minus the "story".

The main point for a doing an Arcade Mode (or Super Battle, Ladder, Tower, World Tour... wherever name they want to call it) is that this is an almost costless mode to be produced with a such great return and fun

Apart from that, it is a great method for "tutorial", "learn" and even "master" characters moves before going to online lobbies. Playing 8 matches in a row in a high difficult level is such a mix of practice and satisfaction.

This could be embelished with fun Bonus Stages, final boss, secrets, hidden features, high schore leaderbords, achievements, fun victory quotations (remember "You must defeat Sheng Long to Stand a Chance"?)

Why not to do?

I don't get what you can learn from an AI that can either be exploited through the silliest gimmicks or knows EXACTLY what to do to counter your button presses at the right range. Earlier today I was playing Extra story (story mode on a harder difficulty basically), I was struggling in the fight Sim vs Necalli until I found out that if I crouched and then did st. HP repeatedly I would always hit him because the AI automatically reacted to my crouching by doing normals from ANY range. Can you tell me in which actual match you can apply this knowledge? And the alternative to that is the CPU opponent always doing safe strings and automatically countering every button press with a full punish. Such learning, wow.

Reminds of Skullzer, the kid who got triple perfected by 801 strider last Evo. I saw his training regimine on his youtube channel afterwards.

Playing arcade on easy mode. In arcade edition.

We must continue the AI in order to reach the singularity. H+ > H

Or maybe just for fun. Each one has fun in a different way, each one has a different online experience, each one has a different internet connection speed and ping...

Oh no, people enjoy different aspects of games than I do! Clearly I should just tell them to "get over it" instead of continuing to show interest in what they want!

The insecurity in this thread is palpable.

So you play ARCADE mode on USF4 for fun on a regular basis ?

Most people finish that mode once, and forget about it completely.

Considering they planned on releasing a cinematic story mode, it's quite ok for them to let slide arcade mode, especially if they were late on schedule.

People don't buy SFV in order to play arcade mode all day long you know.

I used to... mostly because I wanted to get to the secret boss fights.

I can't believe this worked... Well thanks for the heads up, I was having trouble

I completely agree: no Arcade Mode makes this game feel incomplete.

The Story Mode's writing was Ultra-Cringe so I won't be ever replaying that schlock.

I would have prefered what this game has had since the original Street Fighter: Fight a scroll of increasingly difficult AI opponents until facing a boss...and then get some cheesy ending cutscene.

yes and the worst part is capcom is very stupid about it, implement a arcade mode is very easy(hey capcom if you read these take note): every character has it own story mode with mostly 3 1 round fights well is pretty easy, puy inbetwen those 3 fights 4 more, 2 after the first one 2 after the second one, make each fight 2 rounds and encrease the dificilty every fight until the last one is at lv 7(lv 8 is anoying because it reads input) and there you have it a 7 fight arcade mode.
Nichole24 2016 年 7 月 1 日 下午 8:14
Considering people would throw a hissy fit if they released an arcade mode without character intros, endings or rival fights, or if they reused the character stories, its not really that easy or free. You'd need artists or an animation team and get the voice actors back in for more lines. Its not as simple as just making a series of fights if they want to do it right and not make people more mad.
Rikimaru 2016 年 7 月 1 日 下午 8:16
Capcom is lazy, they just need to add an arcade mode (2 rounds please, 1 is so boring) with the comic-esque style as an epilogue for every fighter with Urien or Gill as Final Boss.
