Here's where the "one disc" thing comes from:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW8OhG9GB8Y
Jump to minute 55 and you'll see a guy state that he thinks it's great that they're designing SFV with only one definitive version, apparently by your definition he's an illiterate. And strangely no one on the panel says a thing about it, why wouldn't they correct this obvious misinterpretation of what they'd just said?
And why didn't Capcom correct RPS, or IGN, or Gamespot, or any of the many other gaming sites that covered that panel and apparently misunderstood? They actually did reach out to Gamespot to correct something in their article by the way, but it was only to specify that FM could only be used to earn gameplay related DLC. So it's not like they weren't watching the media reports.
If it really was just people misunderstanding, at what point does Capcom completely ignoring them all getting it wrong turn into them being complicit in misleading them?
At this point I'm sure you'll say never, because why wouldn't you? Anyone who's willing to tell someone who just purchased the standard edition of SFV that they could still earn all of the DLC fighters for free if they're "dedicated" has clearly drunk the kool-aid.
It's pretty obvious to me that they intended there to never be multiple editions of SFV, at least not until near SF6 launch, had it been a success. But when the game badly underperformed they went back to what they knew, rebrand and rerelease to generate interest. Thankfully it worked well enough with AE to get us another full season and some other potential improvements, as well as a definitive version for what is likely nearing the end of the game's life cycle.
As far as that Panel, Combofiend simply answered "we don't know, because we're not that far in the future"
As for that guy's question, SFV is the definitive version STILL. Because none of these updates deprecate the vanilla game.
You can buy vanilla SFV, and still play online with people playing SFV:CE.
Because SFV vanilla, and SFV:CE are the same game. One just has a DLC bundle with it, that's it.
Not one single outlet that I've ever seen, claimed that SFV wouldn't get any DLC or updates.
So what needs to be corrected? Please show me where a news site claimed that SFV won't get any updates or DLC.
If any did, they're directly contradicting the statements Capcom clearly laid out for everyone.
Capcom told the truth, and explained explicitly what their business model is for SFV.
They can't be held accountable for morons starting rumors, and believing fake news, they already made several statements confirming what their plan is.
If you or anyone else didn't understand, that's your own fault.
I'm someone who repeatedly tells the truth in the face of an onslaught of lies.
I'm not responsible for the lies you want to believe after ignoring the truth I've already told you.
Then you're illiterate, I'm sorry to say.
I warned all of you about this back in 2015.
Which is more likely, that I was telepathically discerning the future?
Or that I simple read the press releases properly?
None of that matters, because the one disc policy is what they promised, and the one disc policy is still in effect even now.
So the stages and 200 costumes will come for free within the CE update (in this case I already have all the characters)?
If you already own everything, then don't worry about anything, and just wait for the free update instead.

"This content requires the base game Street Fighter V on Steam in order to play."
It looks like people who don't have the game have to buy SF5 base game + SF5 Champion Edition Upgrade Kit Bundle.
That's for people who already have the base game.
SFV Champion Edition can be bought standalone once it releases in February at retail.
(Dude, check the sources in FAQ above, all this is explained)
I think I'll buy it. Because of those 40 chars EX09 colors. I alread Skip Extra Battle crossover skins to pay at least 45 BRL for the crossover packs, to pay 50 BRL for the upgrade because of those colors will be quite the same. After that, if I don't buy it, how can I get those colors? Maybe it is a pre-order exclusive only, or it will be unlockable in Fighting Chance in a extreme rare way... Who knows...?
EX06 colors being rare is already upset... Only four EX06 chars colors left for me, but I have been playing this game only for almost a year since I bought just to spent FM on Fighting Chance... So I think I don't need more "work" on that one.
But looks like the cloud save still not included. It would be a great addition.
Will it contain Vergil DLC?
Man didn't you read the faq? You need to decide for yourself if it's worth to you to pay 25€ for the content you are missing.
CE will also give you all stages except cpt stages, all costumes except fighting chance costumes, cpt costumes and red bull costumes + All colours for them except fighting chance colours and some very few special colours. You will also get all season 4 characters including unreleased gill and one more character which isn't revealed yet (probably seth according to dataminers).
If you want all/most content, CE is a very good deal.
So if I'm completionists, it makes sense. Otherwise, I can wait for the characters to go on sale.
Actually, it's not such a bad deal after tall.
