Is Chun Li weaker than most in this game?
she has low health, high execution and high risk moves. seems like Ryus and Kens have it easy against me with safe block strings, meaties off of throwing out standing fierce in neutral, and ken throw mixups.

nope, she is not

and high execution really? like.. besides the mp->c.mk->spin body kick, which is annoying to get hang of(but also not 100% needed) she has some of the easiest combos around.
She has a learning curve but she's easily still a top 15 character

how do you play chun li in neutral then? because all it seems i can do is throw out kikokens and normals like standing fierce punch and hope they hit them for small damage while praying they accidentally do DP meanwhile all ken has to do is light tatsu into blockstring/throw mixup over and over again until im dead.

That's kind of the character. If you lose neutral as Chun, you probably messed up somewhere. Her mixups and damage aren't the selling point of the character. Her main goal is to frustrate the opponent into taking bad risks. Sure characters like Ken get more reward for getting in, but his buttons are vastly inferior to Chun's even when some of her pokes got the hurtbox expansion nerf. Her preferred range is *slightly* closer than round start distance, where she can reliably react to dashes or jumps with her buttons, and when she gets a normal she can confirm off of, she can control space by pushing the opponent away and making them start over again. She then has some tools to apply pressure when you scare your opponent from wanting to press forward.

Light tatsu is -8 on block, use any light or medium into special to punish.
Heavy tatsu is -4 and can be punished with lights aswell.

look i'm a new Chun(started playing her less than a month ago) and you probably better player in general than me(since i'm trash)

but i think you missing the point. is not about the life he lost, is about forcing the opponent not doing the things he want to do.
because he will either respect you and then you can start pressuring yourself or he snaps and starts doing unsafe stuff.
that's literally chun-li battle plan, and it doesn't get more fighting game basics than that
except for the fact that chun's footsie game is really lopsided in her favor... really have you ever seen the range on her HK? wtf is that?

also tatsu really? i'm gonna be honest, i don't think i even looked into tatsu frame data, i never had problem punishing it with any character i played. you can get a full punish out of that with chun

remember, when in doubt: *something*->Lighting legs, that's is chun-li 101, you be doing that a lot. you can use it for punishing or for hit confirm is super easy and always connects

also chun has this BnB: c.lp->mp->c.mk->* which is also great for punishes since starts with a 3 frame, but has range issues. so you might want to start with the mp instead depending on the range.

also you got ex lighting legs, which is just broken, nothing with that range should ever be 5 frames and safe on block. and there is the CA which is just like EX lighting legs on steroids, this monster range is 3/4 of the screen, 4 frames and completely invincible during it

EDIT: forgot to mention but spinning bird kick and lighting legs are pretty much interchangeable, they pretty much can be canceled at the same things.

the only issue is that sbk has a slower startup depending on the strength so for some things like c.lp you be able to cancel into heavy sbk, but it won't combo.
so if you have charge, you can always go for sbk and do way more damage and get oki.

She's been nerfed several times and is still stronger than a great majority of the roster. Chun Is pretty good.
