Characters have their own rank.
I want to try some new characters out, but damn. I gotta go in the rank I'm at with zero experience with said characters. That's cold blooded, lol.

The rank matching system is really good for gradually increasing your skill. I think it'd be cool for characters to have their own ranks. Because, bro. I don't even know how to fight with said characters yet. I already have a hard time with my main, lol.

I'm sure this has probably been said before since this game has been out for I don't know how many years. Maybe it's just too complicated to tie in with our CFN profiles or something. I guess going into battle lounges is the next best thing to do. I'm not trying to sit in lines, though. Going to have to pick my poison.

Never mind my original post..

Now that I think about it. I could just play that character and if I get demoted, I get demoted. Down to the proper level I am with that character. Then I can just try to rise back through the ranks with them.

That’s what casual matches and lounges are for, so you can be comfy playing a different character without worrying about losing league points.

Besides, that’s how it was was in the arcades and still is with games without a ranking system, especially on Fightcade. I expected to lose many times when I started playing ST as a total beginner since you don’t simply get matched up with bronze or silver players. Trial and error, rewatching your gameplay, and conscious training are your only friends.

Tekken 7 system is more accurate, each character have their own rank, but leveling up enough you main char will also raise other character ranks.

That's one of reasons why there are so many smurf accounts. Advanced players, in order not to have their winning rates altered and willing to play with different characters, create other accounts through family sharing.

The truth is that, starting with the gold league, it is very difficult to learn to play with a new character. Many players from higher leagues do not let you try attack approaches. I don't have smurf accounts, but to try to play with new characters, I go to the battle lounge.

Yeah. My main thing was starting a new character in a rank where people have a decently solid understanding of their character. Losing CAN be a good tool for learning how to fight back and survive. But I personally believe there can be too much of a gap to help learn, because there's not really much room for error and to try random stuff, like you say. It's different for everybody though.

But. Like I said in my second post. I'm just going to let myself get demoted to whatever rank I deserve to be with said character and gradually rise up again. I'm only in Gold. So I won't have far to go. I couldn't care less about my win/loss ratio, so I too am not going to make an alternate account. I don't know how and don't want to go through the hoobla, lol.

Battle lounges are a good place for new characters. But, I also don't want to wait in lines, lol. Plus, doing rank and casuals give an opportunity to go against multiple characters.

omg dude i love your rank so much. your LPs are so hot. i mentioned your rank to my dad and he was very impressed. my mom told me i should strive to be like you and achieve a proper grown up rank someday. she said: "when you reach diamond, sunny, you will get your life in order and people will admire you."

NOOOOT! Not a single soul in the universe cares how many points you have in a game. I understand a little not wanting to derank in team games because then you'll have nooby teammates you have to carry to climb again. In something like Street Fighter though?! You will warm up to the character and climb up in no time.

IMO in gaming smurfs are below thirsty chat-virgins. How can a person have such low confidence?!

It would be nice to have different ranks for different characters, not just to preserve your own rank but to not accidentally smurf on others. If you are Platinum Ryu and you want to learn Balrog you might rank back down to silver or bronze before figuring him out. Then when you go back to playing Ryu again you're basically a Platinum beating up on newbies, though it's not really your intention to smurf like that. Kind of defeats the point of a ranking system at that point.

I just want to fight against people around my same skill level with said characters whenever I wanted. Ya know? Without having to make trips up and down the ranks.
