Now that I think about it. I could just play that character and if I get demoted, I get demoted. Down to the proper level I am with that character. Then I can just try to rise back through the ranks with them.
Besides, that’s how it was was in the arcades and still is with games without a ranking system, especially on Fightcade. I expected to lose many times when I started playing ST as a total beginner since you don’t simply get matched up with bronze or silver players. Trial and error, rewatching your gameplay, and conscious training are your only friends.
The truth is that, starting with the gold league, it is very difficult to learn to play with a new character. Many players from higher leagues do not let you try attack approaches. I don't have smurf accounts, but to try to play with new characters, I go to the battle lounge.
Yeah. My main thing was starting a new character in a rank where people have a decently solid understanding of their character. Losing CAN be a good tool for learning how to fight back and survive. But I personally believe there can be too much of a gap to help learn, because there's not really much room for error and to try random stuff, like you say. It's different for everybody though.
But. Like I said in my second post. I'm just going to let myself get demoted to whatever rank I deserve to be with said character and gradually rise up again. I'm only in Gold. So I won't have far to go. I couldn't care less about my win/loss ratio, so I too am not going to make an alternate account. I don't know how and don't want to go through the hoobla, lol.
Battle lounges are a good place for new characters. But, I also don't want to wait in lines, lol. Plus, doing rank and casuals give an opportunity to go against multiple characters.
NOOOOT! Not a single soul in the universe cares how many points you have in a game. I understand a little not wanting to derank in team games because then you'll have nooby teammates you have to carry to climb again. In something like Street Fighter though?! You will warm up to the character and climb up in no time.
IMO in gaming smurfs are below thirsty chat-virgins. How can a person have such low confidence?!
I just want to fight against people around my same skill level with said characters whenever I wanted. Ya know? Without having to make trips up and down the ranks.
