Am i at a disadvantage for using a keyboard?
It feels like i am. I have played fighting games with controlers and they feel a lot more responsive then this. I take the worst beatings from PS users all the time and i am NOT putting 200 dollars into a joystick! is there any thing i can do?

on a side note, is Ken broke? Like seriously when i lose to any other fighter it feels like i lost in a fire fight against some one who is more refined at the game. NOT AGAINST F***ING KEN! its combo after combo after combo with out any breathing room, and mind you this is coming from some one who is still fighting at rooky level! please tell me i'm not the only one who thinks this.

Not really, but keyboard has some problems if it's not a gaming keyboard, like not being able to press multitude of buttons down at the same time. You could just get a USB controller or something, they're way cheaper than sticks.

Ken gets easy damage with very little execution required early on, so he feels very strong in the beginning as such.

I have never tried keyboard with SF but I imagine it would be quite a learning curve to get quarter circles or half circles to come out consistently. I use a stick but it was $120, that was the "cheap" end, so I can understand not wanting to drop that. PS4 controllers go on sale for $35 and you could get one used for probably less, or even just a $15-20 third party Logitech controller would be worth it.

Ken's always a hassle to fight. In the lower ranks (where I am) I fight a lot of hyper aggressive Kens that wake-up DP every time and no matter what I still end up falling for it. I swear they can jump and before their feet are even on the ground they're doing a DP or a throw. I have no idea how Kens more than any other character seem to have such fast moves, so yeah, it's normal, lol

Only if you plan on playing characters like zangief. His full circle command is not really pleasant on keyboard.

It's a preference really. I used to play fighters fine on regular keyboards ages and ages and ages ago before gaming keyboards. You get used to the limitations and find workarounds. But a gaming keyboard will make your life a lot easier.

If you're looking for something else, check out the HORI fighting commander. It's my go-to pad for 6 Button Arcades like SF.

Also there are cheaper sticks. Mayflash has a ~$50 option. Qanba Drone is $70, or you can step up to Evo Drone for $100 which has Sanwa parts. All of the above are relatively small and light, which is my complaint with them. But they seem perfectly fine from a functional standpoint.

If you want to go the cheap but very viable route, just buy an xbox 360 pad, you can get unofficial ones for like £10-15, even a cheap quality one will yield you better results than a keyboard will.

Also watch out when Ken activates his V-trigger. That's when he really seems to go wild. I lost about 70% of my health to a rampaging Ken after his trigger switched on.

So, as an option, you can use more generic generic controls to play causally. There are some good and reasonably priced options.

If you like arcade stick, you have Mayflash controls. The Qanba Drone is a good control for a reasonable price too... Furthermore, it's Qanba ... If you can find it, there's Madcatz's Fighting Stick Alpha still selling. All of these I saw on Amazon and all are for under $ 80.

If you like Fighting Pad, there are options in mind. The Hori Fighting Commander 4 costs in the $ 40 range. There is also the Madcatz D-Pad, in the $ 30 range.

Technically speaking you actually should have an advantage over pad or stick when using keyboard. It was already mentioned that your keyboard has to be able to send out multiple inputs simultaneously. And you might want to get used to using A,S,D as left, down, right and spacebar as jump/up. It is a much more comfortable layout than using arrow keys.
This way quarter circles, half circles and even Zangiefs 360 are doable on keyboard just fine and pretty fast.

However the main problem is that SFV does not seem to have proper SOCD cleaning on the software side. SOCD, if you are not familiar with that, is simultaneous, opposite, cardinal directions. That means the software does not handle situations correctly when left and right are pressed at the same time. Just tested it on keyboard and forward input (so right on P1 side and left on P2 side) always(!) wins. That's not good; it should either result in a neutral input or apply the last added input. Down and jump results in jump which is fine.
EDIT: The web says SFV should have SOCD cleaning. However if I use keyboard it always results for me in forward input wins. So yeah, it has SOCD cleaning of some sort but not the way I am used to.

So, if the first requirement with being able to send multiple inputs is not met, and the "wrong" SOCD cleaning added to that, it might explain why you have such a hard time getting precise control. Then you maybe really want to change to other variants of controller hardware.

Even with seasoned gamers, Ken is very much an annoyance. As far as playing a fighter using a keyboard, I've never really been attracted to that idea, though, if you're comfortable enough, you can pull it off.

If you want a good pad, this is one of the best I've ever used, and it's $30:

https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Bluetooth-Gamepad-Nintendo-Android-Genesis/dp/B07MSN1NPC/ref=sxin_0_ac_d_rm?ac_md=1-1-bTMwIDhiaXRkbw%3D%3D-ac_d_rm&keywords=M30&pd_rd_i=B07MSN1NPC&pd_rd_r=7d31f28c-4470-4e66-ae8e-258aacc20927&pd_rd_w=2DkOy&pd_rd_wg=mKFOj&pf_rd_p=d29bc9bc-49e2-46b8-bc05-387917c341ec&pf_rd_r=PZ1XDQ1FQSZPSCMSATP2&qid=1568747258&s=gateway

Keyboards can be great, a lot of people have been creating what are called "mixboxes" to simulate them. If you use a keyboard, make sure it doesn't have ghosting issues and can register at least 6-10 inputs simultaneously.

I recommend using "A,S,D,Spacebar" for movement and number keys for attacks, this can make it easier. But you're not wrong; it isn't an intuitive method and while it can be extremely effective with practice I don't find it enjoyable to play this way.

As for Ken, seems like he's in a good spot right now. The gaps between his attacks can be large enough to punish in a lagless environment, but online they're nearly impossible to react.

Baiting and training players not to wake-up SRK is important early in the match, especially in lower ranks (sometimes they won't learn and you can just beat them this way).
