Dashing with thumbstick
I have an xbox 360 controller and I find playing with it's thumbstick fantastically comforting. Besides dashing. Simply put - it's impossible.

So I thought it would be great if I somehow used an LT as a modifier to turn my left and right directions of the thumbstick into double-taps, i.e. dashing.

Any ideas how to set it up? With autohotkey, maybe.

Xbox360 pad is horrible for this game. I tried using one for half a year and when I still couldn't do quarter circle motion reliably I decided to switch to Fighting Commander and have no problems with dash or any other inputs anymore. I suggest either going for stick (if in mood for investing a bit), pick a better pad (dualshock 4, fighting commander i.e.) or learn to play with a keyboard.

Using 360 is just unnecessary handicap for yourself and demoralizes you in the long run.

It is really hard to use the analog stick to dash. Especially with a PS4 stick as it is really stiff and has more resistance than a 360 controller. Dashing is best on a pad or fight stick. There is more resistance on a fight stick, BUT you have a wider range of motion and your hand won't slip like your thumb will on an analog stick.

Did you even read what this post is about? =/

The 360 pad isn't ideal for fighting games, but if it's your thing it shouldn't be a problem, there are pad pros who still use from the days of SF4 and use the analog stick, like Phenom, Smug, and I'm sure there are others.
I learned to play SF4 with both a stick and 360 pad, and imo dashing is completely fine with the analog (I've done all the SF4 trials with both a pad an stick, could FADC ultra on pad really easily for example too), as long as you don't have to dash a few times in a row, in which case it can become straining. I'd say it's probably the problem you hjave though, you're probably used to mashing a direction a lot to get one or 2 dashes, when all you need is 2 quick inputs.
With a bit a training though, you should be able to dash effortlessly, no reason why other people, even pros, could do it and not you.
If you're still hell-bent on avoiding dashing with the analog, you can try a pad emulator like Xpadder or JoytoKey which should allow you to set any key to any button from the keyboard layout.

I never used the xbox controller but looking at it it seems to have a directional input sort of thing at the bottom of the analogue stick. Have you tried to switch to using it for dashes then using the analogue for other things?

I know it feels weird first and the pad i use is a PlayStation pad. I would use the analogue stick to do fireballs and Tatsu for Ryu but then switch to the analogue stick when performing DPs and dashing. It works really well for me when I switch between to do these. Similar thing when I play Kolin, I use Dpad for Hailstorm and then use Analogue for things like her parries.

If the Xbox that thing below the left analogue is like a Dpad I suggest trying what I do, it takes a bit of time but you'll get use to it.
