Why do people not like Fang?
Not just talking high rank, in about 1+ year of playing, only every came across one another Fang in random casual.

Why do people not like playing him? In the lower rank games (bronze), do alright, usually get a 50%, sometimes even 70% win-rate. Alot of that though is just down to people not knowing what to do. From reading, he apparently is also buffed up pretty well now as well.

So what's the jig?

Because compared with Rashid, Laura or Necalli, Fang is a lot harder to pick up and use well among the new characters. Harder still for a casual player.

His poison damage is pathetic, specials are very situational and for a charge character he's neither safe like Guile nor high damage like Alex. His play style is somewhat zoning, but his attacks work best when rushing down up close. And you have to be willing to burn meter often to use him to full effect.

Fang can be very tricky in the right hands, but definitely not a good beginner character.

I dont do Multiplayer and even I dont find that character any fun!
His poison is non-threatening and easily canceled by slapping his face.

Annoying and boring... just annoying! Poison this, Poison that quotes.... we get it! You poison people....

Odd. I started with Ryu, Kolin and went throught the cast trying to find the one with the most fun mechanics and he clearly stood out.

But, subjective I guess.

FANG requires you to study frame data since he is all about making his opponent push buttons at the wrong time. Most new people dont know about his frame traps so he looks like garbage.

The worst part is that he cant zone like Guile even though he is a weird zoner-rushdown hybrid. The obvious goal is to let the poison do damage but it actually does terrible damage so his main gimmick is useless.

I think he is a buff away from god-tier and Capcom knows that so they refuse to buff him much. I pray I never see that day because a good FANG is annoying. A great FANG would be SCARY!!

- His character design turns alot of people off, general reaction to this guy's reveal trailer was that he looked like something out of One Piece (and not surprisingly his japanese VA...). Rashid in spite of being possibly the best character in the game currently is also surprisingly low in usage%, most likely due to his design as well. People just don't like characters that look too unorthodox.

- Effort. He's not all that easy to play, and has poor reversal options. People don't like blocking.

- Neverending circlejerk that he's bottom tier, turning more people off. Him and Alex in s2 being the victims of Capcoms weird ritual to pick a random midtier character and unnecessarily nerf them to death made things way worse for Fang's popularity. I'd say that got fixed in 2.5 already tho, and he's even better off now in AE.

- Also personally, I think he's just doing a worse job at what Bison already does. Guess it fits since that's his story role too.

I usually love unorthodox looking characters but I can't stand Fang, he's absolutely repulsive. His looks, his voice, the whole trolling playstyle. The fact that his low CC moves crushes you TWICE just to annoy you...ugh.
A close second is Ed. Can't stand his face and (japanese) voice.

That CA is stupid, idk? -.-

he's unpopular for the same reason Dhalsim and Menat are unpopular

those characters play so differently that the rest of the roster that it puts people off learning them. while all of them can be effective the amount of skill needed is much higher than most other characters

I guess most people just think he looks silly. Simple.

The first impression always has a big impact on making decisions.

A decent F.A.N.G. player will make many players "rage quit" with his constant block stun pressure in S3, while their HP is additionally drained by poison during that time, especially against characters with no effective, meterless ways to bypass or escape the poison move combinations.

No need to be a tampon about it.

Besides, alot of Abigail pop up and he isn't the personification of beauty.

He's a goofy character design, and he's also pretty terrible gameplay-wise.

His specials are nearly all charge based but he has lousy defensive play outside of VT2, he has no reliable anti-air, he has no overhead, his jump is painfully slow with zero options in the air, his V-reversal and V-skill are possibly the worst in the game (and that's saying something), and his only wake-up is his CA. The only thing he really has going for him is unfamiliarity, to someone who's never played with or against him much his keep away and cross-up pressure game can seem really strong. But eventually they realize his pressure game is easily blockable/reversible and his keep away is mostly meaningless when he doesn't have VT2 active.

I have fun playing him, but he's awful, I'd say even worse than Vega. It's like playing Dan Hibiki, but it's not quite as obvious that he's a joke character.

FANG scales with imagination. All his tools look bad at a first glance, but if you're creative enough you can make an excellent use of many of them.

I believe people don't play him because of his low tier reputation and also probably because of the feeling of frustration they get when they face fangs online ^^'.
