Remember when people would say Ryu's name wrong?

(I'll preface this by saying I live in the U.S.)


Back in the day, we pronounced Ryu's name as Ry-you. Eventually, someone figured out that it's supposed to be pronounced like Ree-you. Then, someone thought it's actually pronounced like it is in the move Shoryuken and is pronounced more like RiU.

Ok, hold that thought.

I'm playing SF5 during the freebie week and I see they're pronouncing Zangief as Zahn-geff instead of Zan-geef. Do I have to start pronouncing his name as Zahn-geff now?

If not, can I go back to pronouncing Ryu as Ry-you?
