Can I unlock the new characters with ingame currency or do I need to buy the DLC?

You can use in-game currency, but if you are trying to get all DLC characters that way, be prepared to grind your ass off.

Aww be optimistic !! Capcom added these awesome weekly missions that gives us plenty of FM !! They give us this week....6600FM... okay never mind get ready to grind for weeks for a single character.

Yes, you can get all characters with ingame FM(fightmoney) Each character costs 100000 FM, so you would need 600000 for all of S1 characters and another for 600000 for all of S2 characters. This is a LOT, its going to be a REAL grind and you are going to WASTE a lot of time doing ♥♥♥♥ you don't want to do.

So much time in fact that you might as well work 1 whole day and buy the S1 character pass, which is less time and effort than trying to grind all the FM ingame.

My suggestion is get SFV + S1 during a sale, get it for cheap, look at 3rd party sites for keys etc.

The S1 characters allow you to get extra easy FM when doing their trials and easy+normal survival aside from all the standard characters. This plus completing all the other trials(pretty easy if you aren't completely new to FG's), watching demonstrations(literally just watching "tutorials"), playing their prologue story. Playing the Cinematic story is going to give a heap too and if you do it for the 2nd time on a harder difficulty you get a bunch too. This is without even having played a match online you could farm all the FM you need to buy every S2 character relatively easy.

General playing the game online will net you a bit of FM too with 6000FM every week.

Don't spend FM on cosmetics such as Titles, colors, costumes and even stages unless you want to make the grind harder.

TLDR: Get SFV + S1 for cheap during a sale. You can farm 600000FM(for all Season 2 characters) without having to play a single match online by doing these things:
-Play every character their "prologue" story
-Play the Cinematic Story(which is free for download), completing it once gives a bunch of FM and opens another difficulty which upon completing will give another bunch of FM.
- Watch all the demonstrations(just watching tutorial vids, mash "next" button)
- Complete all easy+normal survival with every character
- Complete all the trials for every character(easy if aren't completely unfamiliar with SF)

This will net you more than 600000FM most likely. Don't waste FM on cosmetics.

And then there is a "buy all characters" package that is cheaper than getting them individually, so you're supposed to look at that and consider that instead.
So a business company is, indeed, trying to make money? I would've never suspected that.

Or you can play SP content.

beating all characters story mode and easy and normal survival all the tutorials and beting the Cinematick story mode gives enough to buy 6 characters.
Maby a bit less but you can ern that extra for character 6 by levlein up characters online in less than a day.

Use Shota characters or fire balls characters and grind the normal survivals. Just Throw everyone. when they get back up thrown em back down. On Zangief back off and spam fire balls. Same with round 30 bison. I got 10k for each character I won with.

I did that all yesterday to get Akuma.

You can get your first million if you play, and each character is 100k.
i would do what LockM said, buy the game with the season 1 with a lot of discount them farm all FM possible, the only really hard thing to do is the survival in hard/inferno the rest is pretty easy and will give you something like 2 or 3 day playing single player and get used to SFV. Dont waste the FM you got and you should have enought for all s2 characters and a bit in your acc doing the missions weekly for maybe the entire s3.

Please. There are more ways to get FM than just playing online, which is the worst one. And you know it.

Actrually it is easy even though Survival mode is not fun for anyone I think. The problem I had was I wanted more than the characters like Stages, Colors and costumes. I used the old one round survival round mod a long time ago. I got what I wanted which was stages and a few colors so I am good.

Most people just talk about the charactes when SF games would noramlly update with a new character, and some new stages. Colors should not even be on sale.


Even with the fight money penalty I received, I still unlocked Urien and Alex, the only characters I did not own without spending money throughweeklies and online matches.

There is still more Fight Money for me left on the table with Survival Hard mode but I went throught that mode legit and that takes patience and trial by error.
