I don't regard it as such, I regard it more as "games and other products drop in price with time". I bought Shogun Total war for like 25 bucks with all the dlc after like two years or so. The beginning price of them was well over 100 bucks. It's completely normal. Not only that, but I do the same thing with running shoes.
So, employed people buy characters with money. Also, 20-30 hours isn't really "that much spent hours". But I digress.
This capcom memery is tiring. I mean, you could generally dislike the practice, but singling out this as some kind of bad or different notion is jarring.
Technically Capcom didn't break their word at all.
You're just salty that people buying the game 2 years after you are getting a discount... While not realizing you pay more early to play before people who wait to pay less like with any purchase
What Steam has to do is update Street Fighter V 2017 Deluxe Edition to match the AE price as they're the same product or just re-brand it to AE which they'll probably do.
Hopefully they provide a sale on the base prices of the season passes for anyone who wants access to easy FM for cash like the late adoptors
What really sucks now is steam in general. Before you didn't get penalized for being an early adopter, now steam is becoming as trashy as PSN
In the past almost any bundle that came out would have the price readjusted if you owned parts of the bundle, now you can only purchase it as a gift. So dumb
Pre-Arcade Edition owners:
-All the new modes and gameplay features for free. So no need to buy Arcade Edition to play with the new folks. That is what Capcom meant.
NEW Arcade Edition owners:
- All the new modes and gameplay features
-Season One and Two characters*
So Arcade Edition is $40, and buying the two packs right now is $20 and $30 each, so it is cheaper to get the Arcade Edition if you do not want to grind for the fight money.
Though I'm predicting a price drop to $20 for Season Two, and if were lucky, $10 for Season One since that's older, that's my wish (and a more enticing but for existing players). Maybe when the theoretical Season Three comes out.
Given that is a big update, Capcom had given out a celebratory 50K fight money for the CFN2 update, so I'll predict they'll do the same for the Arcade Edition update.
The game is about two years old now, while other games, such as Bethesda's own Elder Scroll and Fallout series would get their complete editions only a year after. I believe Final Fantasy XI in the past actually came out with starter packs containing all the past expansions to that point for new players ever couple years or so.
The feeling sucks, I know. But you can wait for a sale, Black Friday and Winter is coming.
*There are some confusion regarding the premium costumes whether they are included or not. I still dont know, since I've heard both.
SFVAE is just a bundle and capcom will sell discs with dlc codes because base game is the same.
Capcom promised that you will never need to buy new version to play online with everybody and it is true because of free update.
It's like people lost their ability to read.
SFV Deluxe Edition was relabeled with each new season til now, so new purchasers of SFV Deluxe Edition 2018 will probably be an updated bundle of Character Season Pass 2016 + 2017 + 2018 + the updated/new base game/modes.

^ It's literally a just a price drop on this, they put a new label on it, but it's just a discount that's timed in sync with the big update.
OP, are you seriously going to be mad they're discounting the game 2 years after the release?
I got the complete edition of Shadow of Mordor for like $13.00, because it was years after the release when I got it. I pre-ordered Shdow of War for $60.00, guess how much the latter is eventually going to cost in a few years.
This is no different from every game literally ever.
Like when everyone was telling people that "premium costumes" would be free to unlock, despite my best efforts to tell them they were wrong, there were too many people thinking this, leading to idiots leaving reviews saying "Capcom lied about free costumes".
No, we need to shut down stupidity.
