Any way to pick a region?
Sometimes I get these awful matches where people have Fisher Price internet. When I attack them, my screen shows everything hitting twice. It's like every attack shows that it lands and then a split second later their health is back like they blocked it.

TL;DR I'm sick of playing against Brazilians with awful connections, is there a way I can pick to only play against people in North America?

Yes and no. There's no setting in game that allows this. The only way to do so is to use a program called Peerblock and set up a blocklist that blocks the IP range for every other country on the planet and add it by hand to the program. That won't catch everyone though because VPNs exist. Your best bet is to refund if you're under 2 hours or play something with real net code instead. Literally every other fighting game on Steam or Fightcade has better netcode. Pick any of them.

That's far too much work. There's no batch download so you're downloading like 50 links. This company should have just put in a region filter like every other fighting game they've made. They should also register ping in ms and not bars, or give the option to use one or the other.

No one wants to blacklist laggy players. They want to prevent being matched with them in the first place. Blacklist only has a set number of slots as well. It's not going to help when it gets filled in a week because you're matched up with people outside of your region nonstop.

You know, for a guy with a lot of vocal opinions about the game, you sure managed to write one of the most useless reviews for it I've seen.

I stand by my review. If it ever changes I might do a revision. But as it stands this is the Ghostbusters reboot of the Street Fighter series.

By the way, I hope you're not acting like wanting a region filter in this game is a hot take. No one likes playing with people outside of their region if they have the option not to.

All true.

However, and I'm not saying that this is anything that we SHOULD have to do, but you can subscribe on iBlocklist for $10 per year and build your own batch download. If you've already spent the money on the game then you may as well.

Here is a list that blocks all countries except for the U.S.

https://mega.nz/#!bMNCWDpA!jla9qe0VkfMnUoaU0ITal07BUG-_M1AHwr1-3iCIk0U

and I haven't tested this following list yet but if my settings were saved correctly then this one should allow both U.S. and Canadian connections while blocking most others:

https://mega.nz/#!OIVBRBAC!6-m0laA8L7-dLLK6Jp5X3o-GQe96YhAPbsKgXDIFRj0

Move the .list file into the LISTS (caps for emphasis) folder in your PeerBlock install folder. Restart Peerblock if it's already running. Open your List Manager. Select list.

I will not update these lists. Consider it a preview of how effective or ineffective the lists will be for you to determine if you want to spend the $10 to sub to iblocklist. No IP list is 100% effective. You absolutely will continue to get some international matches.

These are just IP lists for PeerBlock that will block certain country IPs.

Have fun, or don't.

edit: Oh nevermind. Steam automatically removes links to Mega so I can't share my IP lists with you. I guess you really can't have nice things.

I want a region filter. Definitely something every game should have.

Set to 5 bars very likely only in your region. If you set 1 - 5 bars you are likely connect to that far distance and far region away...

Thanks for the attempt Wendigo but I refuse to play the game and use Peerblock. It sends the message to Capcom that their netcode is okay and it's not. When they fix this trash netcode maybe I'll give the game another chance. Until then Hell no.

See it is possible for us to agree on something.

Yeah totally understandable. The netcode is trash and not just its match making. It's a big reason why I drop the game for large chunks of time. Buut I've been sick this past week and SFV is actually a pretty brain dead pick-up-and-play game to have in the library.

I just load into the game, jump around a lot, press buttons. Still gold. ╮( ˘ 、 ˘ )╭

I figured it's either that or Skyrim but I've already played through all of the new mods lately.
