Any time i found that i was dropping combos, it was due to lazy execution on my quarter circles. The square definitely helped me form better habits mechanically within the game
I've also read that Sanwa and Hayabusa sticks have interchangeable gates, while Seimitsu doesn't, but I could be wrong about that too. Just stuff to look into before making a purchase.
The hayabusa is like a (sanwa)JLF(you can fit all parts from a JLF on to the hayabusa) but has a slightly larger throw and engage, due to the different gate shape. it has a V shaped pivot like the LS-40 and the same swtiches as the LS-40 but with out levers. Also, a screw down gate so there is less wobble. Thats the only reason I personally use the Hayabusa over the JLF, is the better pivot, less wobble and better quality materials used. I can wear down a JLF fairly quickly compared to the hayabusa.
The only flaw about the hayabusa is that sometimes when it returns to netrual it can hit a direction( I think this happens because the switches are very soft and sensitive) so you can get some miss-inputs sometimes, tekken and GG players really shouldnt use this lever. They have complained like crazy about it too.
Overall, to the OP it just comes down to preference and feel and in the end you have to get used to the lever anyway. There is no lever that would make inputs or execution easier, it just requires practice. If you're having trouble with inputs its not the stick/lever or even the shape of the gate, its you and you need more practice. I also highly recommend staying with the stock shape that is square. Just practice, you may take longer than you think to get comfortable but eventually you will get it.
Lastly, if the stick cost more than 150 more than likely the stock parts are sanwa. Only the small cheap sticks come with crappy parts or imitation sanwas. here's also a site for references about arcade parts http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/introduction.html
