Real Rally Drivers say RBR is....
too hard and not authentic

... Ive done rally driving and its easier than RBR.....

"There's no mistaking that this is anything other than a simulation - and I don't think you've been able to say that of a rally game since 2004's much-loved Richard Burns Rally. Even that's not quite good enough for Coleman, though. "I haven't aimed at Richard Burns Rally and say I want to make a game as revered as Richard Burns is," he says. "However, my personal feeling and the feeling of a number of rally drivers I've spoken to who've had experience of Richard Burns Rally out of the box - I'm not talking about the modded version - certainly it's too hard. It's a simulation that goes beyond what is real, and if rally cars fully drove like that, there wouldn't be many rally drivers left in the world because they'd all be wrapped around trees."

"We want to simulate that these cars drive down these roads quickly and competently, and they're set up to be a pleasure to drive and so that you can have confidence in them. A lot of that comes from the surface, and the surface giving that feedback perhaps it doesn't in Richard Burns Rally. When you slide in our game the surface is building up, there's a density there so the deeper you cut into a surface the more resistance it provides. It's something a lot of games don't get to focus on, because they've got all this other stuff they're trying to sort out as well. It's our thing, it's what makes Dirt unique. And that's why we wanted to represent it in the best way possible."

i agree totally. RBR was good and it had its share of rally sim dominance, but i would like to see a sim take the mantle.. CM disappointed me with F1 i hope they can do this....

this and Pcars coming out next week, dam there 40£ on sims lol...

Rf2 may have to move over for a while lol
Rhym3z Apr 27, 2015 @ 9:21am
Pcars isn't a sim at all
LokiD1978 Apr 27, 2015 @ 9:25am
its not nfs.....

its a realistic representation of real life, and on home pcs thats as close (and rf2) as you will get to a sim.

im sorry but just like forza and GT Pcars is arcadesim, its made to represent real life but also be pick up and play.

RF1 +RF2 and GSE are real sims.
LokiD1978 Apr 27, 2015 @ 9:35am
pcars is a tad more forgiving than those mentioned sims.. it doesnt make it less so of a sim.

dont get me wrong i love GSC and RF2, but pcars isnt a mile away from these games.

Just because PCARS has optional driving helps doesn't stop it from being a sim. Even Flight Simulator has simulation options and nobody will say is simcade.

im all for authentic sims, and pcars seta tyre model is a fresh start away from the tried and tested gmotor sims. Maybe modders could tap into the hardcore side more i dunno.

but its miles better than GT and forza, and i would say closer to Rf2 and GSC than peeps may think.

Same deal with F1 in Rfactor.

The Rfactor fanboys, back in the day, raved about this 'simulation'. But real drivers said that driving in Rfactor was far more difficult than driving in real life.

Also, let's not forget that many racing enthusiasts are snobbish and rather pitiable - saying, for example, that Project Cars just isn't a simulation... LOL!

Again, it's this idea that if you can drive without flying off the track every ten seconds, then it's not a sim. Nonsense.

I have done rally racing too. I feel RBR is much harder than driving rally in real life. So I guess this is depending on opinion, or maybe what setup a user has.

lol, well... people more familar with flying might. We certainly admit that it's still a game at its core.
Out of the box, Flight Simualtor is anything but.
You have to start going into payware add-ons from the likes of PMDG or Level-D before you'll even start getting close to a realistic simulation, and even then most would admit that they are better as procedural simualtors (flicking switches and programming flight management computers) than flight simulators.
After all, the Flight Dynamics Engine of Flight Sim is basically built around a spreadsheet, not a actual simulation of physics or aerodynamics.
Basically, apart from the graphics, they didn't really change that much of the core systems since FS2000.
Hell, FSX still had some of the same bugs from FS2000.
That's where X-Plane generally fairs better.
But I digress.

LokiD1978 Apr 27, 2015 @ 10:05am
but he says its a sim... not any more unrealistic as Raceroom (also considered a sim)

ARcade=NFS, burnout etc etc

PC Sim=RF2 GSC pcars RRE.

REal F1 simulator= $$$$$

Simcade=BS
