Quattro has better controlability and durability.

Quattro = 370bhp
Delta S4 = 480bhp
205 T16 Evo2 = 500bhp
The Quattro S1 (476bhp) is the car that was driven at the same time of the Delta S4 and the 205 T16 Evo2. The Quattro A2, which is the Quattro in the game, was driven just before.
The 3 upgrades seemed to do very little if anything - The last upgrade however seemed to turn the car into the monster we all know and love (Even if not the S1)
You can fix it yourself, by lowering the torque value on the rear differential. It will also lesson the super-stable feeling the car possesses.
Or do you mean the Lancia is difficult to keep on the road and is likely to hit a rock or sth. ?
When you hit a rock, stone or something else in slide or during jump your Co-driver will tell you "Tyre puncture". If you repeat a mistake further he will say you "Wheel on the ground". You can get it to the stage finish though, even with reasonable time if you were quick previously but you will have troubles braking (car will tend to move aside) and steering.
Weakest spots on Delta S4 are wheels and radiator.
Didn't do it for me, fully upgraded all Group B cars quite a while ago. One car I don't get good times with is the Metro, because I have great trouble keeping it under control/in a straight line. The Quattro however, I do clean stages, I'm really pushing it, feels almost like flawless stages, but my times aren't better than the ones I get from swerving back and forth in the Metro. I get almost the same times with the Impreza. Still think the Audi is the slowest in Group B.
I also don't know where you're getting all these tire punctures from. Tire punctures happen in the same circumstances with all cars for me. You may notice more with the S4 and you're not careful cause it has a lot of backweight and it's back end moves out a lot.
The attributes described above by various posts are appropriate for each car. The Audi shouldn't be made any quicker, as it's an older spec car than the others. When the 037 arrives soon, that should be the main competition for this version of the Quattro.
It is not hard to tame, you just need to release accelerator and tap brakes from time to time. S4 accelerates 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds (quicker than many superbikes and on par with F1 cars).
