Cartoonish style

When HoMM 3 were released back in 1999 they actually looked super realistic (despite being completely 2D), not cartoonish like the upcoming game is.

To me this new style is an instant turn off. I don't want a Borderlands style game in 2025.

I know this game is very late in development now, but I wonder if you could offer two styles: normal (rich 3D with a lot of details) and the current one.

What do you think?

HoMM Olden Era looks great.

Feel free to to keep playing HoMM 3 from 1999.

No. They can’t offer this. It’s not like they press a switch and here we go. It would be a huge amount of work which translates into money. The 1999 game was way more cartoonish. You just think it wasn’t because you are looking at it through your memories from back then. Which is not your fault. This is how it is with all of us.

You heavily implied that you think this game is not 3D a few times and talked about a 2d game being "full on 3D despite being rendered in 2D only". That, my good sir, is nonsense of the highest order hence why the conclusion that you are pretending to have competencies that you do not have. Apart from calling you out on that my comment also pointed out that the popular vote is not with you based on all available metrics in spite of you pretending you have it on your side. Both of those are of substance to the current discussion and are not personal insults. If those facts hurt your ego then I'm sorry but in that case you should learn how to accept reality for what it is even if you dislike it instead of blaming the people who point out those facts to you.

The maps are 3D. The game is trying to evoke the 2D aesthetic of the older HOMM games. I suppose they did it too successfully, because people keep thinking the game is 2D 😅

Its all doesnt matter.Why ? Because this game looks like a mobile game for teenagers , not for true Heroes 3 fans.You have my word , this game will be popular for maybe 2 months , and after a while , many people will go back to Heroes 3.This will be the future

What I said doesn't matter because this game isn't going to be as good as HOMM 3? Sure, I guess. No really related though, I was just correcting someone who said the maps aren't 3D.

Anyway, to your point, I don't think any modern or future Heroes game could hope to achieve the reverence of HOMM 3. I don't doubt people will go back to it. I'm not looking for a replacement though, just a game to enjoy for a bit.

Also, this isn't an insult because I'm sure English isn't your first language: No space before punctuation, only one after. It's just very hard to follow what you write with the way you use punctuation.

100% agree. Necropolis town looks like looney tunes town. Map looks nice but towns and units look bad. This is not about 2D or 3D. There are 3D games in which units don't look cartoonish. I guess toddlers will enjoy this game.

Well, no-one is forcing anyone to buy anything, but when you're working a commercial project, "don't like it - don't buy it" motto doesn't really work.
I guess we'll just have to see how it will turn out in the end.

It actually does work. Arrowhead Game Studios' motto literally is "A game for everyone is a game for no one" and it has worked great for them so far. Trying to please everyone instead of knowing your target audience is how you end up with a mess.

But most people who came here ARE the supposed target audience, including people who expressed their disappointment in the current design. Most of us ARE old HOMM fans, not some randoms who were playing ... idk, PUBG until recently but suddenly decided to check out H:OE.

Again, you're assuming that you're the majority when you're demonstrably not.

It's a perception thing. No one makes a thread going "I like everything, don't change anything" or even "I don't care what the game looks like", so negativity bubbles to the surface. But consistently, the negative comments have been clowned on.

The only crowd I've seen that largely doesn't seem to like OE is the "I only play HoMM3" crowd, but they weren't gonna like the game no matter what it looked like, so who cares?

Yes most of us are old HoMM fans and most of us do not have a problem with the artstyle. You know you are part of a very little minority and that is why you keep spamming the same crap again and again.
