Cartoonish style
When HoMM 3 were released back in 1999 they actually looked super realistic (despite being completely 2D), not cartoonish like the upcoming game is.

To me this new style is an instant turn off. I don't want a Borderlands style game in 2025.

I know this game is very late in development now, but I wonder if you could offer two styles: normal (rich 3D with a lot of details) and the current one.

What do you think?

A lot of people feel the same about the current artstyle, as you can see if you scroll through topics.
But a handful of vocal fans of the current style disagree so prepare for clown bombardment.

Oh honey darling, no. You got it backwards. Most people like the artstyle, just a few wieners spam about it. If you go to r/HoMM, every negative comment about the art gets downvoted. Even on YouTube, the bastion of garbage posting, you can tell that negative comments get downvotes (downvotes aren't visible, but they do affect ranking when you sort by most popular).

Is this a joke? Lol. Because I'm laughing pretty hard at how wrong your comment is.

Yeah, they will delay it for years just to satisfy you. Not to mention the money spent in the process. You don’t like it tough luck. Life is hard.

Sorry to disappoint you but someone ran the poll on Reddit and most people chose the 3D style.

First - that's a blatant lie, here's the poll: https://www.reddit.com/poll/16shezs
Second - Olden Era is 3D, if you can't notice that then you need corrective eyewear.
Third - every post whining about the artstyle of Olden Era on reddit has been indeed downvoted to hell.

I think the 2D style is very retro and good, but sorry, it does need to adapt to the times. The 2D style is difficult to rotate at certain angles, but the 3D style can, and the 3D style will save more resources. In 2024 At this point in time, it is actually very luxurious to require a detailed 2D style. It is far more difficult to produce than a 3D style. I don’t mind if it is a 3D style. What I hope more is to make some optimizations in this style, such as more Magnificent towns are what most players are looking forward to. The current human towns look too stingy, like a village or a park. In addition, there are many outstanding things that are worthy of praise than previous works, such as better special effects. I'm very much looking forward to it!

I also hate the art style.Heroes 3 was much more realistic , but at the same time magical and colorful.This.The problem is the art style.I just hate it

The more recent poll, that has now been deleted had 70% of people choosing the 3D style over cartoonish crap they are going to release.

You talking about this poll?
https://www.reddit.com/r/HoMM/comments/1ge1uun/what_kind_of_graphics_would_you_prefer_for_heroes/
The one that got so savaged by the comments that the user deleted it?

First off, I don't know what you think 3D means, but the game is 3D.
Second off, that poll was written in an extremely biased way where the current artstyle was described as something to the effect of "Borderlands cartoon art" or something.
Third off, that post was downvoted to the negatives.
Fourth off, no, the winning option in that poll was "I don't care what the game looks like" by a wide margin, not "3D style".

Yeah, I don't know what 3D or 2D means, right, as an avid Blender/AutoCAD user. Welcome to the effing Internet where complete f-cking no ones with no experience in anything related to 3D [graphics] will call names and try to look smug.

I don't bloody care if it's 3D or 2D. It's cartoonish, period. Even HoMM 3 was full on 3D despite being rendered in 2D only. I don't want Boderlands like primitive textures and shading. This looks horrible and I'd even say indistinct to the point of being blurry. It's not blurry per se, there's no depth of field (which is an absolute disgrace to graphics, imagery and even photography as only idiots use it) or motion blur (rivals DoF in its "usefulness") in this game, but my eyes do not lie. I need to squeeze to understand what I'm looking at.

Not a single game in the HoMM series has looked this way, outside maybe HoMM 2 but then everything in it was contrast'y enough.

In this game contrast is bloody horrible. Large swaths of space on the screen look like a big chunk of greyish (bluish, whatever) goo.

And lastly I don't bloody care about the brain damaged HoMM subreddit where people with valid concerns are getting downvoted. The poll was in favour of 3D by a wide margin.

Good god, you really do not know what 3d means... That is so sad for someone who claims to have experience with 3d modeling software.

Also considering the top comment of that thread is
Why "The way it is already presented in the trailers and dev videos right now" is not an option?
the user being banned for inappropriate behaviour and the result of the previous poll that has over 700 random answers you really don't have anything to stand on when trying to lean on a popular vote.
