I thought that Steam version of Higurashi is a newer than original game because of redrawn sprites. It is possible to transfer voice acting from Higurashi Matsuri from PS2 to PC version?

The voice over isn't in the Mangagamer version because it was made by Alchemist.
Mangagamer only has the rights to publish 07th Expansions game but not the PS2/DS etc. version by Alchemist.

Basically what bacon said. Also the Matsuri version has some different arcs and the system works differently, so any transfer over would leave some scenes unvoiced. I'd prefer either full voices or no voices, and in this case no voices makes much more sense.

Rest assured I've played the visual novel before and despite the lack of voices it's still one of my favourite stories in any medium.

Well, it's from 2002, and I think VNs had voice acting back then. What's more important is that it's an indie (doujin) release.

As others have stated, the original had no voice acting in it, but it really wasn't an issue for me since I just read the dialogue in the voices from the show. I just think it's great these VN's are finally making their way onto steam so the general public will have easy access to these amazing stories!

I expect someone will.

It has been done for Umineko and I think this rerelease will envigor anyone interested in creating a voice patch for Higurashi.
