Yes. The anime adapts all the chapters in order. Onikakushi became episodes 1-4. Do not watch it, the visual novels are far better.

So just watch EP's 1-4 and nothing else?

That should be doable without getting spoiled on the following arcs.

Not sure why you would want to do that, given how bad the anime supposedly is.

There is not much love for anime on this forum but we cannot deny that the anime was well received and it is rather praised.

Dunno why people would say the anime is bad unless it's purely in comparison to the VN though what adaptation is ever as good as the source material. Personally I enjoyed the anime quite a bit and it's the reason I'm going to pick this up soon, spoilers or not.

A word of caution: although the first arc of the anime doesn't spoil anything beyond the first Chapter of the game, the same is not true for the future arcs. For example, the very first minutes of the second arc of the anime is actually a scene of the 5th Chapter.

So, although watching the first few episodes shouldn't spoil anything, don't assume this will be true for the future ones, even when Chapter 2 is released.

Yes, it will. Resist from the temptation, there are some really well constructed scenes in the novel, it would be a shame to spoil them (or the plot development in general). The best way to enjoy Higurashi imo is reading the novel without knowing anything, and do yourself a favor and read all the TIPS.

Well, you can always spend the time until the next episode comes out theorizing in the forum. I can't wait to hear what newcomers to the series are up to!

Tbh I would just avoid the anime altogether. It has its moments, but it's not as good as it's made out to be. It will spoil the remaining arcs, so yeah... (Plus the anime is rather unsatisfying ant practically demands you watch season 2 to find out anything)

Well that's because they took two seasons to cover all the main arcs.
...How is that a problem?

Pretty much. I was surprised by how much Higurashi creeped me out with so little and by the end I wanted more and started the anime. I already knew what would happen but watching it I got a sense it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good even if I had watched it without prior knowledge.

Yes it will. However the first season's quality (Animation and such) is veeeery poor, and they miss a lot of character development (Like, A LOT) as well several fanservice OVAs. If anything read the manga as they don't miss much details and they have extra arcs.

Well, I regret watching the anime and reading the Umineko manga before playing this, even if I enjoyed it a lot, I'm sure it would have been much better if I didn't know anything of the world before. You can watch the first four chapters of the anime without being spoiled, but make yourself a favor and don't watch the rest of the anime. You can wait till the questions arc is fully released, and then watch the anime version, wait for the answers arc, play it and the watch the anime version.

Don't watch the anime. I did, and I regret it. It's made understanding what's going on even more confusing.
