No, you don't need to be in another region. You'll get your cards in any country in the world. They just forgot to add trading cards tag on the store page.

That's really interesting, I'd have thought it was an automatic thing where if the game dropped cards the store front would automatically state that it did.

Onikakushi had a listed store page well before it was released and at the time, it had no cards registered.
Maybe it is an automatic thing, if the developer includes cards at the time they made (or update) the store page. I wouldn't know. I don't have a developer's account.

The problem is it's not automatic. Developer/publisher have to add trading cards tag manually.

In another thread (the one with several bundle buyers whining about not getting Steam keys) an MG rep wrote that owners of the old version would get the new translation (just the translation - not the new artwork.)

That was over a year ago - did this ever happen?

The downloadable version on Groupees and Desura (yes, Desura is still - in a zombie-like way - alive) still seems to be the initial version...

I enquiried about this at the end of 2014, since I had a physical copy from another retailer.
The response was that you were only eligible if you bought a digital copy from MG's store.

Makes sense because all they have to do is update the file that is available for download, rather than distributing and policing a patch. Kinda lazy, but their rules be the rules.

VisualArts is a visual novel producer company that is known for works such as Clannad and Little Busters, that were developed by their Key studio.

Xenophobia means to hate or fear things that are different, usually referring to foreign races.
VisualArts until recently would not permit any of their games to have an English localisation or a localisation into any foreign markets at all. This is pretty common among Japanese visual novel producers and developers.

Why don't you talk about music? There are great differences between original games and mangagamer version.
In the original version, music is not very great in the beginning, then becomes better and better. In Higurashi kai it's almost great as in Umineko.

Like these ones? These are part of original kai soundtrack and weren't part of mangagamer's kai version (before steam release).

The soundtrack actually used in the game now is the original. I can't confirm Wata specifically but I know Onikakushi and Tatarigoroshi both use the original soundtrack and sound effects.
