Ahoy Captain's!

It has been quite a while since my last check in with Armada, but not to fear! Your Admiral has been hard at work creating a better action-packed naval combat experience for you all with some brand-new improvements to Hullbreaker that aim to enhance the feel and grit of both combat and sailing.


Ships have been adjusted to add bit more weight and better controls to your vessel! Based on player feedback these changes aim to make sailing more satisfying and consistent. These changes also go along with the new wind mechanic added.


A strong gale has entered the arena...

Wind is now present in every round, the wind has a facing direction and influences ship speed. This feature was added to add another layer of mechanical depth. The Weather Machine can affect the SPEED of the wind as well, making ships faster and harder to predict.

You can see what direction the wind is heading by your very own compass! Now found within the new ship UI


Rival ships aren't the only thing to fear in the open water, there is now a new category of weather types classified as "Hazards" which are rolled for during weather selection
- Fog
- High Speed Winds
- Active Volcano
- Whirlpools
- Hurricanes

With an additional hazard that is present during any storm or rain weather type
- Rogue Waves

Be sure to face them head on to avoid getting your ship capsized!

An additional weather type has been added
- Heavy Storm


- Added the Volcano to the arena
- Added a new victory animation/screen
- Added a danger indicator in UI for getting close to whirlpools/hurricanes/rogue waves
- Added new sounds for better player feedback
- New weather/wind-based upgrades added
- Updated ship UI
- Updated oceans look and changed wave turbulence
- Main ship camera vertical FOV scales with ship speed
- Adjusted ship weight and turn speed
- Adjusted ship camera positions


Mortar
- Upon firing a mortar shot you are slowed for the duration of the reload time
- Increased landing time for mortar fire

It has been a long period of development for the Gale & Tide update, so I wanted to give the community a choice for the next update. Of course, both updates will happen eventually, but this is to see which the community wants first

Would you more like to see the Fire Update? (work in progress title) Which will be a big focus on adding more upgrades with a lot more variety and more weapon types. Or the AI Update? (also a work in progress title) which will bring a new PvE experience with being able to face off against bot players either alone or with other Captains, granted that because the AI Update is going to be a significant undertaking, it will more than likely be released in two parts.


I will be posing a pool in the official Discord, but you can also leave a comment on the post to share your choice on which one should come before the other (as well as suggestions for other things you would like to see in the updates or Hullbreaker in general).

Ahoy all!

The demo is now available to play!

Any feedback or bug reporting regarding the demo can be done in the community hub discussions or Hullbreaker's discord server.

For those of you who already own Hullbreaker I have also done a couple of UI improvements that I think better fit for the game and give off a more polished vibe.


- Scoreboard now transforms into a health showcase for each player when combat begins
- Scoreboard now no longer fades upon not being hovered
- Weather selection now has cleaner movement akin to a slot machine
- Compacted UI for ship combat
- Updated animation that plays upon combat starting
- Small audio improvements

- Updated spawning ship logic to better accommodate for different connection speeds
- Fixed issue that involved ships being able to "knock out" other ships by ramming into them
