IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad

IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad

DCS
I am leaving DCS, because to me it is too complex. Is IL-2 better?

Thx

better? no. different, yes.

imho both sims have their pros and cons and both, whilst fun, are starting to show their age, imho.

Sales of il2 are frequent and deep so worth looking out for.
The aircraft in the IL-2 BoS series are more generalized compared to DCS, and have simplifed characteristics and features. An easy example of that is: in DCS you have to go through all the steps 'by the book' for an engine startup while in IL-2 BoS the engine startup is reduced to a single key press that activates scripted animations. Also, you can toggle on/off several difficulty options in IL-2 BoS that can scale it from 'arcade' all the way to a lite study sim on a level that is comparable to Microsoft Flight Simulator.

I prefer the IL-2 BoS series for WWII combat for several reasons. Primarily, you have more flyable aircraft variants available to you, across multiple theaters and fronts. Second, while DCS records damage to individual aircraft components at a granular level, I think the more global damage model in IL-2 works better for enjoyable combat. Also, IL-2 is better for visually showing specific damage to your aircraft.

AI opponents are always debatable but to me IL-2 AI seems a little more 'human.'

Finally, I think IL-2 feels more visceral and organic, especially for ground attacks and strafing.

Best advice is here. Wait for a major sale when you can buy the base game at -85% discount and most of expansion content at a -50% to -75% discount.
Thx everyone

I left this game three months ago, I used to play DCS for hours every day, But after they changed the Multiplayer interface, in my opinion they ruined it, I became bored flying alone on empty servers, and I have no plans to reinstall any time soon.
