imho both sims have their pros and cons and both, whilst fun, are starting to show their age, imho.
Sales of il2 are frequent and deep so worth looking out for.
I prefer the IL-2 BoS series for WWII combat for several reasons. Primarily, you have more flyable aircraft variants available to you, across multiple theaters and fronts. Second, while DCS records damage to individual aircraft components at a granular level, I think the more global damage model in IL-2 works better for enjoyable combat. Also, IL-2 is better for visually showing specific damage to your aircraft.
AI opponents are always debatable but to me IL-2 AI seems a little more 'human.'
Finally, I think IL-2 feels more visceral and organic, especially for ground attacks and strafing.
