The game is broken and missing MANY graphical features...

I've just been testing the game again, and it is broken, the game is missing many graphical features that the original had.


1. The water in the original Sleeping Dogs reacted to you when you swim in it, or when boats drive in it, the water was dynamic. But now in the Definitive Edition, the water is static.

This is a video showing the dynamic water the original Sleeping Dogs had, which the Definitive Edition seems to be missing.

2. When you swim in the water in the original Sleeping Dogs, you would get out of the water with wet skin, but in the Definitive Edition you are dry and show no signs of being wet at all.

3. In the original Sleeping Dogs, when you got into a fight and got hit, your face would show it by being bloody and bruised. But in the Definitive Edition you have no bruises or blood on your face after being in a fight.

4. In the original Sleeping Dogs the PC version was given a HD Texture Pack. I think the Definitive Edition has this HD Texture Pack, but it is turned off for many people.

Go ahead and check yourselves, go get beat up, jump in the water... All the effects are missing.





The Developers really need to fix up these major issues. If you are reading this Developers (which I doubt) please fix this.

Don't know what to say other then every one of those things are in my version of the DE. I just spent the last hour or so exploring the water in a boat and all the effects worked for me, I was very wet after swimming. They even mentioned the new blood textures in the official blog and if you look at my achievements, you can see I did the 4 fight clubs, and I assure you my face was very bloody by the end of each one. The blood even stays on your clothes until you change them.

Check your settings or maybe even verify your game cache. Make sure you check the advanced graphic settings; maybe you have the low buffer thing turned on, make sure you turn that off if it is.

Why are they not working for me then? I have everything set to max? And even if it works for you and not for me, it is still something they need to fix, like the HD textures being set to off for many people.

Yeah I read that topic too, and I haven't had to change any files, so maybe there is some kind of weird bug turning off the HD effects and features somehow for some people. I hope they make a patch to make sure they are all on by default for everyone and make it to where you have to shut them off yourself to disable them.

I dont know how well this edition works, because i cant even launch it, it just appear the firs screen (where is says "Havok" and that ♥♥♥♥) and then, BAM, HKSHIP.EXE stopped working.
Can anyone help me? D:

because i do have blood, and wet clothes for example....

Yes, but some of us (including me) don't have them.

That's part of the HD textures. Follow the earlier topic to enable the HD textures by editing the XML file because even on the in-game preset "extreme" settings the HD textures arent enabled.

I changed textures to 2, Wei still doesn't get wet in water.

Mine still has every bit of the blood effects, and after I discovered the texture fix I posted, the texture quality matches the original, but it does look like the "drenched" effect when getting out of water has diminished in this version. Maybe it's more apparent with different outfits?
