Memory access violation - idea for solving
Hello guys!
I have non-Steam copy of this game (on CD). My fantastic memory from childhood. Recently I've installed it again after several years of non playing it. And I found trouble which was described here not once: black screen and notification window with text: "Memory access violation". I tried checking/unchecking compability settings of .exe file but it still didn't help. And then I found this video on youtube:

Yes, it isn't Platypus in this video, but I did all the same as showed (but with Platypus.exe file of course) and it helped! I also marked all available compability settings including: "Run this program in the compability mode with Windows 95".
I just want you to know about this method and encourage you to try it on your own. Write in comment below if it helped. I hope it helps.
Sorry for my not good English - it isn't my native language.
Good luck!

I also had this issue. Here's what I did to solve it (other people also reported it helped with 'memory access violation'):
1. Open NVIDIA control panel.
2. Under '3D settings' open 'Manage 3D settings'.
3. Focus tab 'Program settings'.
4. 'Select a program to customize' either find your program or find an executable using 'Add'.
5. Find 'Preferred refresh rate' (not 'Max frame rate'!) and set it to 'application-controlled'.

Hope that helps.

That fixed it! Thanks!! :happymeat:

EDIT: Well actually.... The game runs at like 10 fps when using that option, so it is highly unplayable Sadge....

Does anyone have another fix?

The problem is that all the methods above didn't work for me, and I am using a Windows 11 laptop with a 144Hz display. I don't have any options in my NVIDIA Control Panel that say Preferred Refresh Rate, and I am not using multiple monitors on my laptop. My old and now broken Windows 10 laptop ran this game properly with no issues. I hope there's a new method for Windows 11 compatibility. Along with Memory Access Violation, whenever I ran the game, it gave me either a frozen screen or weird glitches on-screen that is unplayable
