The main focus has been on improving the overall combat feel, implementing new dynamic elements and mechanics on the map, and to start implementing systems that give you goals and things to do in the game (other than just trying to survive!). We also further optimized the controller support and encourage anyone who can to play using controller.
We have also added some long-awaited quality-of-life things and minor balance tweaks.

• We have added the next of many *Happenings* on the map. These are events or enemies that players can interact with, but who each have an agenda of their own.
  
• Look for Pitpaw in the southwest of the map, but beware!
  
• Dragon Vault portals are now not usable unless you have a Dragon Vault Crystal with you. You get these by completing a crafting quest chain. Check the new in-game challenges to learn more about it!
  
• There is only one queue to join now. Both solo players and duo players go into the same map.
  
• Added area names to the map.
  
• Updated the encroaching circle to start later in the game, giving you more time to experience the *Happenings* and new content. To compromise, it will move slightly faster at the end of the game.

• Many new named enemies traverse the map. These have stronger variations of existing abilities and have better loot. Some of them are part of quest chains and/or dynamic elements on the map.
  
• Enemies move around on the map.
  
• - Some will just patrol the immediate vicinity of where they spawn. Others will go on longer patrols either alone or in groups.
  
• Enemies now have randomized initial ability cooldowns.
  
• Clearer indicators on some of the bosses’ abilities.
  
• Clearer ground indicators for the Spiderlings.
  
• New regular enemy abilities.

- Hearthguard
- Major rework: We want to move in a direction where the accumulation of stacks and buffs on the characters is more rewarding and has a bigger payoff.
- Check the Hearthguard’s abilities in-game for all the changes.
- Lightningcaller
- Improved Lightningcaller’s basic attack casting VFX
- Improved values, colors, and cast time of power vortex cast VFX.
- Added a cast VFX to Zap Bang.
- Changed the Ultra to be depending on the Energy you have when triggering it, and giving it a shorter cooldown.

- We opened a South American server for this test due to a massive influx of testers from there.
- You can drop items on the ground by pressing X on your keyboard
- There are now 2 consumable slots available. You can use consumables by pressing the 1 and 2 keys on your keyboard
- New and improved icons for all items!
- Renamed the old “Shoulders” slot to “Trinkets” together with the new icons.
- Continuous performance optimization.
- Improved the UI for recipe books.
- You can now use the scroll button to zoom in or out from your character.

- Fixed that indicators for skill shots didn’t always match projectile size.
- Fixed Imp Bolter projectile height
- Optimized all enemy colliders to indicate projectile impact more clearly.
- Fixed a bug where footstep audio would not work correctly inside the fog.
- Fixing Barrel Scrat’s attack animation timing.
- Fixed a missing outline for characters in smoke.
- Fixed the broken Named Item and enabled them in the dropables again.
- Fixed the wrong timing for the Elite Scrat Netters.

- Rock Muncher lacks audio
- The client will sometimes crash when you try to close it.
- Some enemies can get stuck when they leash and try to return to their starting point.
- One of the first challenges still calls for you to try and defeat a Swarmer even though most of the Swarmers have been replaced with Rock Munchers. There are events in the map that summon Swarmers though, so you are still able to complete the challenge.
- The Hearthguard can sometimes be slowed for a longer time by the oil. This usually resolves itself after a basic attack.
- Some small invisible colliders are on the map along the edges of passageways.
- The second consumable slot doesn’t have auto-equip from loot containers.
- Keybinding to right-click causes problems with interacting with items.

We’ve started working (and implementing) one of the big aspects of what Project F4E will be: the dynamic world initiative™

Just like the Scrat train (for those of you who have already played the game), we want to add many other dynamic elements to the map. Our goal is to create more unexpected situations, leading to more excitement, more indicators about where other players are, and an additional strategic layer to plan your mission accordingly and adapt to events.
Here is what you’ll experience in the upcoming test:

In this Playtest, we focused on building tension when you play:

• New Level Design to add more places for hiding/ambushing 
  
• Players and enemies are no longer visible on the minimap 
  
• Many changes to the characters' abilities to make ambushing more effective and harder to escape
  
• Made the Fog of War much more visually distinct and reduced the range of vision 
  
• Added Many Audio tweaks to make it easier to hear other players from a distance 
  
• Increased the material cost for crafting but unlock some uncommon item recipes from the beginning

• Added Elite Enemies: they hit harder to loot better! 
  
• 3-players queue is removed for now. It is replaced by a Duo team queue (+ Solo queue)

The event will consist of multiple activities for you to do on our Discord Server[discord.gg]. You can submit your ideas and discuss them with fellow Discord server members. There will be one activity each week that will start on a Thursday of that week. With each of them, there will be a brief on what you would have to do to take part in it and all the nitty-bitty details.

Each person can only submit one entry for each activity excluding playtest challenges, and everyone can vote for their favorite ideas with a ❄️ reaction.

At the end of the 4-week event, there will be a PRIZE for the top 3 spots on the leaderboard across all activities with combined ❄️ count.

Welcome to our October Recap for Project F4E. Here is a summary of what has happened and shared during the month.


The long wait for the next open playtest was finally over. The servers opened on October 5th for a 5-day playtest!

During this playtest, we also set up challenges - Speedrun and Extraction. Leaderboard winners for the most extractions from each character won an Amazon gift card and the Vault VIP role. Winners from the Speedrun challenges also got the Vault VIP role.

The Vault VIP role allows a player to join exclusive smaller playtests. We’ll have other challenges and rewards in our next playtests too, so stay tuned!


As some of you have probably already seen from our social media platforms, we now have a YouTube series called Dwarf Talk, where interesting topics about Project F4E are discussed and shown in depth. New audio and art updates to a game is something a lot of you guys like to see, so we have been more active with showing this off to our community. Every Wednesday, updated audio to our game is posted on our Discord server - for now, it has been an update to each character’s ability sound effects with a description of the changes. Updated artwork will start popping up on our social media and Discord server from next week. However, for Halloween, we had something special to show to the community!



The community was given a goal to reach on Twitter (now named X) to reveal one of our big Dragon Vault bosses! The goal was easily achieved, and we revealed the Corrupted Void Dragon, the inhabitant of the Dragon Vault.

At first, the dragon looked mysterious in the shadows, waiting to reveal itself when the goal was met, and the community did it! Do you think you and your friends will be brave enough to face such a beast??
