The Enigma Cases – Cluebook Enhancement

Hello Detectives!

We are continuing our work on the new Cluebook system, which will make your investigations much more professional and organized. With this update, our focus is on the Person of Interest (POI) system, which allows you to track the connections between the most critical elements of any case: the people.

Below are the details of the POI system that will deepen your detective experience:

Person of Interest (POI) System

All individuals you encounter during the case can now be tracked from a single center. The POI section has a dynamic structure that accumulates information step-by-step about who you met, what you know about them, and which evidence is linked to which suspect.

From Silhouettes to Identities: People you haven't met yet initially appear as silhouettes. These cards begin to fill in as a name is mentioned in a file, heard in a voice recording, or when a face is seen.
Dynamic Identification: A person may initially be added as "Unknown Male #1." As you deepen your investigation and verify their identity through the PC database or documents, this information is automatically updated.

Automatic Information and Chronological Logs

You no longer have to worry about missing important details. Every new piece of information you learn about characters is automatically recorded on the POI page, without the need for manual note-taking.

Voice Recordings and Documents: A name mentioned in a phone recording or a "landlord complaint" in a letter is instantly added as an entry to that person's profile.
PC Database Integration: Queries you perform on the station computer will directly transfer details such as the suspect's occupation, address, or past records to the profile card.

Evidence and Suspect Connection

A detective's greatest weapon is establishing the link between evidence and individuals. In the POI system, an "Associated Evidence" section will be located under each character. For example, you will be able to see at a glance which suspect a knife or a safe record is linked to, and quickly switch between evidence and profiles.

User Experience and Notifications

To ensure your focus remains undisturbed during the investigation, POI updates will be delivered to you via concise notifications. Thanks to the "new" indicator on the cards in your notebook, you will easily notice which character you have obtained a new clue about.

Important Note: This system is still in the development stage. Shared images, indicators, and interface details may be updated and change during the development process to provide the best experience for you.

I Was Afraid to Keep This Installed

I’m using a 4K screen, and the game was running at around 5 FPS. I can run three recent AAA games at high settings at the same time, yet this game struggled to run even with nothing else in the background. That was honestly very surprising. The Enigma Cases – New Developments

🕵️‍♂️ Hello Detectives!

Following the Playtest, we’ve continued improving The Enigma Cases with major system additions and gameplay enhancements.
Below is a detailed overview of everything that has been added or improved since the Playtest.

Core Gameplay Improvements

Fixed the issue where the flashlight switched hands incorrectly and the light turned off when picking up objects.
(Previously mentioned in the last devlog.)
Jumping and Crouching mechanics have been fully integrated with animations.
(Previously mentioned in the last devlog.)
Big Map and Mini Map systems have been added to the game.
Players can now view other players’ inventories directly on the map.

Investigation and Note Systems

A dedicated Notes Panel has been added.
Players can write their own notes and also view notes taken by their teammates.
A Photo Capture mechanic has been introduced.
- Players can take up to 5 photos.
- Photos are stored in the Notes section.
- Images can be enlarged for closer inspection.
- Fully integrated with animations.

Interrogation System Expansion

Previously, only Daniel Morgan could be interrogated in a static way.
Now all suspects can be interrogated dynamically.
As players discover new clues, suspects can be questioned multiple times to uncover additional information.
Interrogations can be ended at any time, allowing suspects to be held in custody.
Facial expressions and dialogue animations have been added to all interrogated characters.

Audio Improvements

All AI-generated voices have been removed.
The game now features professional voice acting across all characters.

New Game Mode

Singleplayer mode has been added for players who want to experience the game solo.

Settings and Customization

Significant improvements have been made to the Settings menu. Newly added options include:

Motion Blur: On or Off
Film Grain: On or Off
Vignette: On or Off
Camera Shake Amount: Slider
Field of View: Slider
Brightness: Slider
Texture Quality
Shadow Quality
Anti-Aliasing: TAA, MSAA, FXAA, Off
Voice Settings: Push-to-Talk, Open Mic

Additionally, a full Key Binding system has been integrated, allowing players to customize controls freely.

Ambitious idea ruined by AI slop

This game has immense potential, but upon hearing the first AI voices in the game, my friends and I started worrying. The more we played, the more we realized there are AI-generated images as well, and possibly text too. After all this, it's impossible to not wonder if the entirety of the story is AI-generated as well.
