Evidently they chose to wind down the daily rewards from the anniversary celebration and close the year quietly. Presumably (i guess?) to be sure players understand we're returning to the previous reward system. Perhaps they don't want players to feel pressured to log in more than 7 - 14 days a month after the anniversary celebration is over. It's anybodies guess.
I agree, it would be great to see fun, useful rewards of vary types; cool furnishings, outfits, pets, mounts, etc... instead of the underwhelming daily rewards of years past. If any changes are made, I hope they at least make the standard "starter rewards" trade-able, especially the type most of us who've played for a few months tend to throw away.
Do we want riding skill books after we've played for several months? Research Scrolls? Does the team know 5k gold can be had from one or two treasure chests? It's honestly confusing to so often feel as if the people in charge of the daily rewards haven't played the game beyond the OG tutorial, isn't it?
On another note: I do wish they would create some sort of Mythic Item\s that would make specific types of creatures friendly. Maybe something that makes cats and dogs friendly and pettable? Baby guar? Dolphin Lizards (ornaug)? Perhaps Ember says something snarky when we pet doggos? I'd definitely log in for items that combine to create something like this. :)
all my toons are maxed out on the riding speed, stamina, and cargo, so yes, more riding books mean nothing to me again...
yes, we had some great rewards in the last 12 months, as part of the 10th year anniversary, some hidden gems too, and indeed they deserve credit for awarding us those rewards...
yes, it won't be easy to come back to small meager rewards, after they've spoiled us with some great rewards...
but it won't hurt for them to raise up a bit the daily rewards, from what it was before the anniversary year now ending... why?? to keep us, players engaged and keep us coming back for more...
there is tough competition out there, competing for our time - and money - so many games to play, so little time to play them all...
yes, maybe some great, or good, or not so-good login rewards won't make a huge difference in convincing us to log in and play, or not...
but better rewards than weaker ones will be incentive enough for some to actually log in, and then eventually get drawn into playing maybe a quest they never got around to do, or slowly to eventually open their wallets and buy more crowns to buy something they want...
so, better login rewards it's a start, it may help...
the rewards for December are pitiful, to say the least... the traditional month of gifts. in real life, so should be similar in ESO-Tamriel universe as well...
but.... but...
the 10th year anniversary is coming to an end, were some good, even great rewards, but that's done and over with...
the clever marketing campaign started last year was efficient enough to bring in more new players - you can see it in longer and longer times of waiting in the queue to log in on the servers, and in the internal anti-idle script that will kick us out after about 10 min (or so) of being AFK idle... I remember back in the days, I was able to stay idle for (almost) hours, to take a real life phone call, or maybe have a snack, a coffee, or whatever... now, after about 10 min we're kicked out, as they don't want us lingering idle on the servers, they need to make room for new players coming in...
the last DLC didn't sell so great, at least not according to their forecasts and estimations, or expectations, as such they're not really happy with us all...
so, in the end, they don't really care if we log in daily - or not - the newer guys will eventually come and replace the veteran players on the log in's, hence more riding lessons, useful for who?? for new guys, since a veteran is probably maxed out on the mounts training...
not sure if that will help them with the real money revenue from crowns, but that's another Pandora's box to talk about at a later time... it's a numbers game, 1-3-5% supposedly are spending real money, and under 1% are big whales spenders, so you do the math... the more players, the merrier...
it is what it is... after all, if you feel the compulsion to log in, do so, play, enjoy and you'll also get a meager reward... if not, enjoy your other games...
what those abbreviations stand for?? why do you assume we already know about it..??..
