You misunderstood him, it was irony. He meant that they “created problems” in the form of a bunch of machines and a truncated search for a group, etc. they sold the “solution” with patches (you still buy add-ons, etc.).
But frankly speaking, this is not about creating “problems” and “solutions”, but about the evolution of the game and simplifying the lives of players. And it’s good that the developers listen to the community and improve the game (and not in the spirit of “if you don’t like it, don’t play”).

I feel like I have made at least 50 master writs by now so I feel I might already be kinda close to obtaining that new station.
As for the group finder expansion, that has been around on FFXIV for years so it's about time ESO did this as well.
However, there is already a group finder for dungeons; I use it daily for running specific dungeons.

Please remove Banished cells, fungol grotto, i hate enter still same dungeons for 10 years.

So the full quote was, “The trickiest part was finding ways to fit all of the niche requirements for each content category together in a way that flowed well” , so its more than the way it looks. It's establishing what will work and what can be done within the development timeframe, just to name a few things. And there is always a ton of collaboration between teams to pull these features together. So many conversations were had.

Until you address the issue of LAZY DPS players queing up as fake tanks and fake healers, it won't matter how much you update the group finder ... period, end of story.
