ESO keeps crashing ... sometimes.
The game can work perfectly for weeks, and then comes a day when the game just refuses to work.

It exits to desktop without any messages or anything of note in the logs either during loading of character selection menu, or a few seconds after logging in with a character. Just enough time to grab a daily reward and make few steps to the door.

At first I tried to check all files, repair installation, read what people say about crashes on internet, etc ... nothing helps. It just keeps repatingly crashing like that.

But ...

Next day it works perfectly, and the day after, and next week too ... until it does not again.
Internet is available of course, because login happens and also all following googling too.

I think it's somehow connected to the windows update. With windows 10, a major update usually makes computer unusable due to terrible lags and glitches until it finished, but sometimes it's not as noticeable. May be the update process blatantly kills the game process because it's blocks some dll it wants to replace. Or may be the game thinks that update is some sort of cheat thing and kicks you out.

By the way, does anyone here runs the ESO under Linux? I have Mageia 8 x64 on dual boot.

Im experiencing the same crash as youve described on windows 11. No error message, no nothing, just straight to desktop. The first couple times it was in-game/character screen, then it was whenever I'd press the play button from the launcher, itd boot up for a min, then CTD

perhaps time to check windows system files.
open a command prompt with admin permission and run these commands :

sfc /scannow
dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

(sfc scans and repairs Windows system files
dism fixes corrupt files in the Windows system image, use it when SFC can't repair files)

This has been happen to me ever since the new chapter came out. I asked about it and the blamed their common scapegoats: gpu drivers, add-ons, internet signal. You would figure after 10 years they would have a better system setup. this whole game has become more & more of a disappointment.

Play on Linux, too. Have not had an issue yet with it.
