starting area problem while playing with friends

I read that the starting area depends on the faction but no matter what race or faction I choose, I seem to end up in the Firemoth Island starting area. So far I have tried dark elf and high elf. My friend on the other hand who chose the same class and faction ended up somewhere else. She started a dark elf too but ended up in some snowy mountain area up north.

How can we play together in the same starting area if she starts somewhere else choosing the same faction?

Form a group and port to each other.

You probably have the Morrowind dlc. It starts you in Seyda Neen I believe. Not sure how to fix.

This ^^^

One of you is on the faction quest line, and the other is on the Morrowind quest line or so it seems.

As was first posted just form a group and you can teleport to the closest wayshrine to the other. Then you can pick and share the questline you want to work on.

they have good spoilers if you need to find a quest giver and if, what condidions are needed to start them (previous quests).
