100% GPU in Fullscreen Mode (RTX 3070)

When I alt tab out of my game to use chrome or discord or some other window, my GPU usage spikes to 100%, and stays there as long as I am tabbed it. It makes interaction with any other windows nearly impossible. I have tested this bug in other games, and it appears to ONLY happen in ESO. It also ONLY happens when ESO is running in fullscreen mode. If I put it into Windowed Fullscreen, there are no issues.

Anyone aware of this issue? I'm wondering if it's specific to the RTX 3070 or something. Hopefully gets fixed eventually, but seeing as how I play a decent amount of ESO... I'm a bit annoyed that there seems to be some kind of glitch with it. It's not gamebreaking, just frustrating.

No. I'm running ESO @ 1080p on a 144hz panel.

Not sure might be some strange setting then. I have a 1080p and 144hz as well but I guess Nvidia was doing it's fun upscaling stuff so the in game said 4k and using 100% GPU haha. So I changed it to 1080P and dropped it by like 70%.

It's not an issue with the cards power, it's a bug of some kind where the game just demands 100% GPU from the card for no apparent reason. Happens consistently, specifically for ESO. I haven't been playing ESO recently, but if memory serves-- this has continued to happen.

i have a gigabyte master aurous 3070, and i have this issue as well only with this game but im running at 2k
i alt tab out and trying to use google or steam is a slug feast.

i don't get 100% gpu use tho, and even in 4k when running this game im lucky to ht 40% gpu or cpu use.

I have a RTX3070 founders edition and that also is always at 100% gpu usage while I'm playing. I'm playing in windowed mode because it's impossible to alt+tab in fullscreen mode. But also no option to enable v-sync in windowed mode. I tried capping the frame rate using the nvidia control panel but that didn't work, it's still trying to render as many frames as it can.

4k 170HZ screen, I7-12700KF - 64GB Ram - ROG Strix 690-a - ROG Strix 4070TI - all 7.000m/s NVMEs.

CPU 30%
Ram 25%
GPU 40%
V-Ram 50%
all % are average Nrs

I guess problem is on your end...
BTW ESO isnt very demanding on 4k....
its just upscaling the 2k textures so additional VRam load and GPU usage is minimal....

even though it rarely works, make sure that you limit the background framerate in the ESO's settings tab.

Even with it on (if it isn't set through NVIDIA's app) you might see that a loading screen or alt-tabbing will send the framerate skyrocketing.

another huge resource hog is the launcher, close it as soon as you load the game and you will see that your resource usage drops substantially.
