Daggerfall: Redguard starting quests?
So after starting a Redguard character (Daggerfall Covenant, since I don't have one of the "any race any faction" items on my account yet), and finishing the starting island stuff, I get off of the boat in Daggerfall and... then what?

I mean, after you assemble the crew, pull of the heist, and get to Daggerfall, you're left with one piece of that quest... to talk to someone for the reward. I did that, got the reward, done. Now what?

It seems I was just kind of left to my own devices here. With Aldmeri Dominion characters, you're at least kind of pointed in a direction early on and have at least the secondary story (involving the Queen and whatnot) to do inbetween Harborage quests.

But not with Daggerfall characters, it seems. Yes, there are profession-related and guild-related quests scattered about, but other than those... there doesn't seem to be anything, unless I'm missing it.

Obviously there are quests scattered about the land that I need to go find (I've already done a few (Harpies, Bandits, etc.)), but is there no secondary story quests for Daggerfall characters like there are for Dominion characters? Or are they just picked up a bit further down the line?

While I understand and appreciate the fact that this promotes exploration, it could be a bit disenchanting for a new player to just be dropped off there in Daggerfall like that and left with no real direction as to where to go, if anywhere.

There are 2 main quests for the city of Daggerfall, without spoiling anything significant, you start the first of the two quests by 'talking to' and following a dog that roams within the city. The second quest begins when you finish the first one (they are the equivalence of the Vulkhel Guard/early Queen Ayrenn quests). You will encounter more of King Casimir and the underlying story as you go through Glenumbra and the rest of the Covenant regions.
I think there are around 20-30 main zone quests in Glenumbra and around the same number of side quests as well.

See, that's weird, because I remember doing those quests as an Orc. Since then, I'd deleted that character and made this Redguard the other day.

Maybe that dog was just MIA, so I'll look for it again, but I've not seen it anywhere. (Not even the pin on the compass was available; just the ones for the profession/guild-related quest NPCs.)

there should be a little dog nippin' at your heels-do his quest and save someone.

After more thinking, I realized that I'd already done the starter line of quests on this character in Daggerfall. However, that still doesn't help in regards to the fact that, after those, you're left with nothing.

I was at the point to go to the Lyris quest in the Harborage, though, so I did that and some wandering to find more stuff to do.

It's just a tad weird coming from an Aldmeri character to Daggerfall. With AD you're pretty much pointed in the direction you should go, with plenty of side quests scattered around in the vicinity while you're on your way. (Which results in you getting distracted from that story quest, finishing the side quests, and eventually moving on. hah.)
