That said, to them it looks like you are the botter esp. if you used the same exact PC.
Funny thing is you have people here complaining about losing their account -- which is strange because ZOS do seem to employ some kind of fingerprinting for authentication and likely tracks IPs and other computer information as explained by their TOS update last year and YET CS DOES NOT UTILISE THIS INFORMATION TO DIFFERENTIATE OR VERIFY anything a customer is saying about being hacked, etc.
That's straight up incompetence, and it's a shame all the Youtubers that would have called ZOS out are gone. Players that remain will understand how much influencers bringing bad CS support and policies to light matter in the coming months.
For you , you can always try to get a friend to ask or help on your behalf. But knowing the current ZOS, they will likely ban them too.
Very unfortunate, but a powerful lesson in subscription games and MMOs: you don't own anything and you are paying to own nothing. Keep that in mind when you spend money repeatedly in an online game or subscription service.
You can turn around and in a moment it is gone. The time and money is always better invested in a hobby or medium that you do have control over.
For subscription-based services , I also include things like STEAM that have DRM because you don't own anything on it either and the same thing can happen. Always be mindful of that when you purchase.
Guys gotta becareful what you say to players, even close friends and dont use any addon scripts such as botting to mine nodes while AFK or any kinda of hacks. Exploiting that i dont know, but i heard that players have been doing something not suppose to be doing and they gotten into troubles for it.
Thank you for sharing. It's unfortunate that I had to learn this lesson the hard way. I have only ever played the game on my own PC, so I'm assuming it's a IP ban. However, you're right - ZOS support seems to be inconsistent and sometimes unfair in their handling of bans and appeals. That being the case, it's also a very threatening thought for an MMORPG where players are dumping in so much time and money.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that my account was terminated without any proper investigation or consideration of my loyalty and history with the game. It's disheartening to think that all my time and money invested in ESO could be taken away from me like this.
Your point about not owning anything in subscription games is well taken. It's a sobering reminder that our investments in these games are always at risk of being lost due to circumstances beyond our control.
I appreciate your suggestion about getting a friend to help me appeal on my behalf, but I'm not sure if that would even work at this point. Support seems to have made up their minds about my case, and I'm not sure if they're willing to listen to reason or reconsider their decision.
It might not seem that way now, but that realization will come in time.
It's hard for me to see that silver lining right now, especially since I invested so much time and effort into the game. The feeling of loss and frustration is still fresh, and I'm still left with my jaw to the floor with how ZOS support has handled any of this.
Edit: Sanity and Competency.
They will because DEI isn't unlike "green energy". Once the external financial incentives stop, those hires will go away just like those bankrupt solar and wind farm companies.
Long term unnecessary spendings like these cause people to put too much value in the game, not only financially but it becomes linked with their identity. When it is gone, it's like your soul is getting ripped apart. I understand the shock OP but there really isn't any point to spending so much money on an old game that barely gets any good content.
Well, not that it's super important but the whole $2,112.19 is not all from the ESO+. That's just the approximate total that I've spent in my ESO lifetime with everything included. $962.84 of that is from crown/misc packs. I believe my x58 sub was $869.42 in total though. Most of this money was spent over the span of the 5 years and 5 months I've been playing, so it wasn't like I dropped all of that in its current dying maintenance mode.
I know there's no point to spending any of that. It was more or less that I just genuinely enjoyed the game and I made amazing memories and lifelong friends along the way. The way you explained the soul-ripped-apart definitely hit the nail right on the head. I know there's a point where you can get too committed to something and I was there.
There is no insurance or way to recover anything, so ultimately yes it was a bad investment. I've read the horror stories about the bans and AI and all that, but I would have never seen this coming in a million years.
Sounds like you should find another game that actually has their player base in higher regards.
