Zerith-Var... WHY?
Zerith-Var is an awesome companion, but completely useless with any magicka character because he loses rapport when you use soul trap. Why would they give us such and awesome companion with such a crippling setback?

Do you understand his lore ? He is a good necromancer who REDEEMS souls and releases them not traps them he doesn’t like it because it’s part of his lore and adds believability to his character. You can buy soul gems by the stack for almost nothing I have 20k of them if you need them I’ll give you 1k for free

Learn the lore, this is a non issue.

He also loses rapport with thiefy activities like fencing, getting bounty, using edicts, etc. Or vampire stuff like feeding or biting. He also hates Cadwell, so much that you lose rapport by even speaking to him lol.

Honestly I lowkey like the fact that every companion has things they like and hate, even if it interferes with my ability to use them on every character. It makes them have more personality and flavor.

He’s a hero and a moral guy all
The things he dislikes fits perfectly
With his character.

Totally agreed. It really fleshes him out as a character. :)

Flavor is cute, but I can't take him into IA with a solo mag build that uses consuming trap. So, for me, he's just a questline.

Just keep the gems out of your inventory ? And stock filled ones than it won’t happen. It really is a non issue you are creating for yourself.

You pick your companion based on your play style. If you want to run around and steal and capture souls, go with Ember. Each companion fits a playstyle; they are not like in SWTOR, where every companion can be anything you want.
The various companions promote certain playstyles, or roleplaying if you are into that.

Does this count for the passive skill that gives you soul gems, or only an active skill.

Do people even use soul trap that much? It alway seemed like a pretty mid DOT before, and never stays on my bar past the first few levels when it's still one of my only abilities.

There is a passive I use which auto fills them for me that’s what I use.

you will throw them away later. They accumulate very quickly during the game. Soul Trap is currently the most useless ability. .as I think
