so how does this relate to a regular player exactly?
edit: also this is first time ive ever heard of them so who?
and they said kevin was amazing
For an ESO content creator that is a big number. And you know what? It shows that as ESO content creator there is not much growth potential even for someone who had one of their most known and used resource (ESOU). So imagine the actual small ones? It just literally shows that doing ESO content leads nowhere sadly.
Anyone else who has moved away or branched out more to other games have actual grown bigger. So yeah. Dead game without future.
he also, from a quick google, has made 'im quitting eso' vids in the past and still plays. he is just farming hate clicks, gonna play a different game for a bit, and then come back in april i bet... since in the video for this thread he says that eso gets him his most viewers.
Based on what? That's a subjective remark. What is the average? Who has the most, the least, etc? Also, is it up to ZOS to promote content creators or should they be doing this themselves? In short, if an ESO content creator is unsuccessful whose fault is it? ZOS's? YouTube's algorithm? The creator themselves? I don't tend to watch content creators, their live steams bore me and Twitch streams are just to make donations, but I know of bigger channels who put out builds and guides.
This. Happens with creators of many games, especially those under alpha/beta development - they "hate" on it then return months later to "love" it after an update. It's a common gamer love/hate cycle across social media to attract views both for hating on the game and for supporting it since they play both sides of divided communities to milk subs.
He and his clan belongs to that below %1 progression hardcore PvE population in the game.
The reason he had low sub numbers is exactly this.
But, he also decided to leave ESO before because of the state of the game and returned back after a time. So I am %100 sure he is actually leaving.
Only a complete tool would stream the game at this point.
Every single thing in that video was already known by anyone that has had interaction with the developers. The company needs to remove all of the front-facing managers as they are incredibly bad.
At any rate, it's good that he is leaving. The gaming industry is small, alright, but not in the way those Zenimax managers that threatened him thinks.
No one in the game industry is taking ZOS seriously, especially not anyone that has actually played ESO and works as a game developer or programmer of any kind.
ZOS consistently lies about everything or stays silent. I bet they are facing a cyberattack right now since they seem to have a penchant for gaining enemies.
Yeah, and honestly.. i think no matter what people think about him, i still feel he got potential to grow more in some other game. So while it takes time to build a new community, i think he can. Some one game andies always only watch content from that their one single game they play. So needs to branch out for new fresh people. But it is an opportunity for sure after years of ESO frustration. :)
Just gotta find the game, or games. No reason to be just one-game-streamer or even one game andy as a player too to be honest these days. So many game studios will just lowkey milk with low effort content even loyal old customers if lets them. Better to play several games and not get too attached to just one, especially one with Devs like ESO that often seem to sabotage their own product with bad decisions year after year.
Yeah, sadly they do not care about anyone. They used to at least pretend a bit better, but last times they have gone full on ignore mode. Poor ZOS_Kevin, with situations like this.. not an easy job. The stuff said in the video is not a good look on how things are done at ZOS. But most of us knew that. Here is just confirmation from behind the scenes.
Regular people are just wallets to them, meat to the grinder.. on a game that had immense potential but they ruined it themselves. One of biggest MMO failures i know, when it could have been made a great game instead of what it has become and how poorly it works in so many aspects. Wish they had Devs with actual passion and skills that was needed to fix and maintain it.. not to demolish like it has been now. 💀
**stay tuned for more Steam Forum drama ahead in 2025!!**
I'd politely suggest such a micro-channel is not a bellwether for ESO.
Obviously I have no knowledge of any of the interactions that occurred between the parties involved, I only have his side of the story, but it strikes me that this has been very poorly managed. If you are going to run a customer engagement program then the one thing you must do is actively and positively interact with those who showcase your product.
Let us be honest here, ESO is 10 years old. This means that anyone who was interested in an MMO based on the Elder Scrolls franchise has probably played it at least once. So prospective new players are probably looking at the game from the standpoint of an MMO in its own right. Either they have never played one, or they are looking for one to replace their current - 'I'm bored with this' - one. MMOs are massive time sinks so its unlikely that you are going to be regularly active in more than one.
Having any live service game running for 10 years is a great achievement, many don't make it passed the first five. 2024 should have been a celebration for ESO and it started so well. Now, however, it has turned into more of a wake. Reviews have gone from very positive to mostly positive, this forum is full of negative posts relating to the future of the game and now a content creator has posted a video that has had 32,000 views about why they have had enough. It doesn't matter if you have never heard of NefasQS, I did a quick search for ESO on a PC that is not logged into YouTube, and his video was the first one on the list.
You have to wonder if a prospective player is going to look at all that and go 'yeh this is the game for me!'
I suspect the next 6 months will be make or break for ESO. It is possible to turn things around, and it remains to be seen what the new seasons are like. If the players, the customers, are dissatisfied then they will not part with their money. Gaming may be a small market, but there are hell of a lot of other games out there.
