Not compatible on steam deck?
Have been trying to play some eso on my new steam deck I got on Christmas. I'm unable to even use the launcher as regardless of whether I boot the game up in game mode or desktop it won't load. I get a popup reading "Timeout waiting for window to load. Please try to restart the launcher." I'm unable to find any information online so did ESO just break their compatibility or something or what?

try looking into proton
I have a fully Updated Steam deck on the Stable branch currently. ESO fully works for me. I did need to desktop install first, then the ESO launcher worked on game mode.
Make sure the game has verified cache and is Using Proton 9.0-4 currently.
It still fails even when using proton so I honestly don't know, I think I'm just out of luck on it
Did you find a fix for this, having same issues.
Strange, I've been playing this game over a year close to 3000 hours, and l've never played on any device over than Steam Deck.
Have you checked the comments on the game from Steam Deck users on the protondb.com website?
there might be a solution for you there.
I actually started playing it last night on Steam Deck, normal branch - just install it, run it in desktop mode first to get through in to game. What you want to then do (or I did) was just set quality to medium and enable accessibility mode (this will kick in the gamepad functionality)

From then on you can run it in game mode but you will need to use the trackpad functionality to get past the launcher.

I did not have to change anything to do with proton.
