I've never seen DLC get better than a 40% discount in the Crown Store, and that only comes up once or twice a year.
Though with the game going into "maintenance mode" maybe they'll offer some better discounts in the future?
Everything but the latest chapter is available to subscribers. If you buy a Deluxe Collection, then you get all the chapters but no access to the DLC zones or dungeons. Those you then need to buy with crowns. At which point, you can access everything subscription free.
Some say past discounts on DLCs get as high as 50% off inside the Crown Store. Yes, I am hoping discount offer will get bigger due to supposed "maintenance mode" or just simply since this is an old game.
It is but not everything as Lokiator explained above. Since I don't like to subscribe, I bought the Gold Road Deluxe Collection due to the recent enticing big sale. I was not planning on buying Crowns and have just tried it when I learned the Crown Store also offer discounts from time-to-time. Holding on to them to spend on possible sale offerings this year.
Hopefully you didn't pay that price in crowns. I am not sure about Steam version prices, but on the standalone launcher acct. I got those packages for 1000-1500 crowns at one point.
Whether they will do that again with the game entering maintenance mode, no clue. They are aiming to extract the maximum profit from the game at this point, after all...
In no way will I pay those ridiculous amount of Crowns for the regular DLC Bundle prices. Do you mean, in the past, you were able to buy a DLC Bundle, (with 3 DLCs included in a bundle) for only 1000-1500 Crowns? That means each DLC costed only about 333-500 Crowns each?
I am guessing Zenimax will have to offer better deals if the game is truly dying and/or they are still aiming to invite more players in the game, It's counter-productive to continue pricing the game high if not enough people are buying. ESO is old and like mostly everything in the digital world, it loses value over time. I am guessing it is time the price settles to a more affordable level so a lot of new folks will be enticed to join. I just hope the game will continue to thrive, provide steady income to Zenimax, and still be accessible for many more years to come.
You're right, the Gold Road Deluxe Collection, even though it has a lot of content, is still incomplete if we consider the existence of the other DLCs in the Crown Store. But it is definitely still enjoyable and playable. I think I have only scratched the surface of the game and so I don't know whether a story will be cut short and then will have to be continued on a DLC to have an ending/conclusion. Still, I am prioritizing to get the Guilds & Glory DLC Bundle so I can finally manage to open those Thieve's Trove boxes scattered around the game world.
Yeah, I read some folks do that. But I'm not into subscription really as it feels like I am chasing time to maximize monthly savings which might push me to get addicted playing. With the recent sale on Crowns in Steam, it's still cheaper I think if I can also manage to buy from the Crown Store when they have a big sale on the DLCs. I also worry that it will be difficult to track/manage unfinished quests in those DLCs that became inaccessible if ever I have a subscription and it expires. But thanks for the suggestion.
