This game is unfamous for such issues and expect many of them, randomly. Make sure to check official forum, on the main page baner there's always info if there is maintenance, server dead or something. You can also check X I guess but personally I stay away from social media, but they say they publish stuff there as well.
If you have persistent login issues, verify game files using game launcher, it has buiilt in repair tool. Alternatively, in the case of "unexpected error" without a code, just wait it out. For error codes refer to ESO website, help section.
That all being said, what went wrong with people that they're unable to logically try to get to the root of the issue but instead ask for ready-made solutions
You also have the odd occasion where you run into file corruption even when just trying to install the game. Try using the repair feature and see if that changes anything.
Edit: You may see shills trying to say all of the issues are on the user's end but ESO's issues with Steam are very well documented going all the way back to launch day on Steam.
Game might be under cyberattack and login server down. Solution: try some other time.
See, thing is this game having issues at certain times of the day because someone in SEA likely DDoSing it (based on time of attacks seems like an SEA-based attack, also any in America would have already been acted on within 3 months; attacks must be regions out of jurisdiction).
Now if you want to see just how prevalent the problem is, go here:

^ and that's on the game's OFFICIAL forums
It's not you. If you haven't had the game long and can refund, I'd consider it.
Or he just came here to ask and got ESO via their website, we don't know until we know.
Then don't know. How did you get ESO? Through Steam or ESO website? Or, worst case scenario, Epic?
