94 gig update?!!

Ive not played ESO in a couple of weeks. Just loaded it up and its downloading 94 gig.. Did I miss a massive update or something?

I'd say about 100g of data would be explained by a massive update or something

it was 3.5-4gb.
There are 2 numbers: "downloading" and after that - "updating". Usually "updating" shows some giant numbers compared to dowloading. I dont know what it means.

I know update 43 was about 35 gig. I wasnt sure if there was a change that required a full game re download or something (has happened with other games ive played)

No, they changed the mode of display of the launcher, i fell for that one too last time.
If you check you'll see it says "updateing" not downloading. The changes are applied directly.
Don't like it either.

It means that the files being updated have a total size of about 94GB, but the size of the update is about 3.5-4GB.

its defiantly downloading, even though it says updating. 95gig to 70gig remaining took over an hour.

Glad I found this thread. So what is the actual DOWNLOAD size? If it's 95 GB, I'm uninstalling this game.

This thing has been sitting at 1% for like an hour now. I'm tired of HUGE mandatory updates (my SSD is tired of them too) that are larger than most games I own. I've had my fun with this game, so I guess it's time to free up some drive space and try something new.. Maybe Enshrouded!

I can tell you from experience, it is WAY FASTER (and easier) to uninstall the game than it is to update it.

I did play a couple weeks ago and see the same thing now.
It is 45 minutes and down to 75 Gig and I think that is really not funny. I have little spare time. :(

I had it again recently, full game download on my PC and on my Steam Deck.

its fascinating to me to see the same misunderstanding happen every single patch in any mmo.

no, its not downloading 90gigs. its looking thru 90gigs of files to determine what needs updating. its only downloading 3-4 gigs.

its been like this for literally a decade.

the amount of people online who assume they know it all is also fascinating.
it WAS downloading 90+ gig it took all day to download it!

it WAS downloading 90+ gig it took all day to download it!

there is no assuming here. i described the way the patcher works.

if it took all day then either your internet was slow or the game wasnt installed.
