If you haven't been, you really should try using the Group Finder. The random daily dungeon group is a great source of XP. If you want to play a specific dungeon for the skill point or gear then click the box in the top right corner and select "specific dungeon" to queue up for a group in the dungeon of your choosing (which is how to go about completing daily Undaunted missions). You can also find people grouping for trials, arenas, world bosses, or even just to go fishing.
But i agree - we have to farm experience somewhere to level up alt characters. Like on dolmens or in public dungeons. About Group dungeons - they give "zero" experience themselves (it is greatly reduced there). Only random dungeon runs are usefull (but not so great). As already said, daily random dungeon gives a lot of exp but it can be done only 1 time in a day on each character.
In addition to the above, visit the main site more often and look for listed seasonal events that provide experience buffs. Lean on those as well.
As for soloing, everyone I know treats ESO more as a solo player game. In fact, the original devs intended for the game to be accessible in this way. In other words, it was originally meant to be a casual game. It started to shift away from that a few expansions ago and it may be time for those who don't like that to start looking at migrating to another game when their personal dissatisfaction reaches an unacceptable level. If you start thinking about leaving, don't get caught up in the sunk fallacy trap.
If you want to stick around long term, finding a social/family guild can help a lot. Play the game as you have been and the social guild can help with doing harder content without having to deal with group finder issues.
Lastly, to help break up the monotony, you can create another character but a different class. Champion points carry over to all characters and available at level 1. You might find that a class change is what you need right now.
Another option is hanging out near outdoor hotspots. There's probably better ones these days but some I can remember I would level at were.. the second (far east in Wrothgar) Public dungeon, lots of ramps with multiple groups), theres 1 or two outdoor areas in couldharbor zone, ghouls i think, Theres a pretty active small area in Alikr ( I THINK ITS this zone, im looking at the ingame map trying to remember), northeast side north of the Sakatamaa (spelling?) wayshrine. Theres a bridge with two higher regions with tons of ghouls packed together. Obviously exploring and finding your own can be worth it.
More dangerous yet rewarding are some of dungeons found in the War campaign map, i think these changed around over time (patches etc) though I remember one you could loop through and gather up 5-6 groups of goblins easily.
Optionally, if you don't mind soloing, quests are kind of annoying at times but serve as a mix of getting achiveents, kill xp and quest reward xp,
Hope this helps, this may be older info.
You forgot to tell him that getting trials done is a complete train wreck due to people not knowing mechs. It's not their fault because there are people who take a dump on those who don't know mechs instead of helping them. Then you have the quitters who bail after one or 2 tries which screws everyone trying to get it done because quitters are losers. (Don't be a loser) If you're going solo then you'll have to watch a LOT of videos to show you what to do. People on this game are pathetic and take the game more serious than real life so watch out for them. You can tell because they talk about "parsing training dummies at 60K DPS." That's code for "I have never had intimate contact with another human being and nobody likes me in rial life so my toon is all I have." Avoid those types, They're toxic. Good luck.
