Game crashes because MS Process Explorer procexp64.exe is prohibited?
Hi all,
I'm constantly using Process Explorer from Microsoft's Sysinternals Suite for years as an alternative to the Task Manager in Windows 10 with the added benefit that certain malware is deterred from causing harm on my PC.

Sadly, procexp64.exe running will crash TESO very early after startup. I still have not been able to get into the game after the opening movies and the multiple disclaimer messages.

I've searched and found this particular problem mentioned by users in the official forum and they connect it to update version 41:

I've opened a ticket with support.

My question: Will this issue be resolved soon or am I better off with refunding? Because sure as hell I will continue to use Process Explorer.

A few weeks later and this is still an issue, I'm afraid they may never fix it...

I've noticed this problem too. My guess is that with the memory access Process Explorer has that it was used as an exploit within the game. Hopefully ZOS is working with Microsoft to fix the issue. I get that ZOS wouldn't want to disclose the details of the issue to the public, but it would be nice if they at least provided some sort of transparency since this is an official MS program that is widely used.

Why not just shut it off while you're playing the game?

Because PC security. There is a lot of malware around that doesn't want to be noticed and checks if a program like Process Explorer is running on your PC before they do their malicious stuff. If Process Explorer is running a number of those malware programs don't start their attack run.
TESO is not worth risking all my data or the time needed repairing my Windows installation after a ransomware attack. Don't get me wrong: Process Explorer is just one of many things you have to do in order to protect your PC. But you also wouldn't leave open the door to your home just because you have installed metal window screens.
