How many mounts are earnable in-game?
I was just wondering cause I started this game within the past few months and it seems like there are almost no rewards to be earned in game? FF14's latest expansion alone had 49 earnable mounts in-game just for that one expansion... ESO is looking predatory imo

1, through levelling-up. Yep, EXTREMELY predatory (and greedy).

also homes cost at least a 100 bux. EACH.

The Endeavour system allows mounts to be earned.

1. Each day you can do 3 endeavours for 45 seals. Each week you can do 1 weekly for 215 (therefore every 7 days you can get 530 a week).
2. Most expensive super flashy mounts are 16'000 seals (just over 6 months) though they discount them at times and have ones for 4k seals.

On top of this, crown crates are offered as log in rewards which can have some mounts in.

So you can only earn 7 mounts total in the entire game outside of events and 4 of those are horses? Struggling indie devs I guess...

Wow, most incomplete link.
There are 4 mounts you can earn from doing trifectas and some other challenges in raids
(Sunspire, Rockgrove, Dreadsail Reef, Sanity´s Edge)
and one you can get from collecting Maligrphic Ichors in the Infinite Archive.

My mistake. Thank you for the correction.

There are more, from events, like Indrik and others.

Yes 8 or so Indriks and the quasigriff and a bear.
Oh and the cat you can get from twitch drops.

And there's like 500 mounts in the game, 7-10 actually to earn through achievements/activities only

Over half of the rewards in the game are in the cash shop

And how do you think ESO is still afloat and thriving? What keeps new content getting made even after 10 years? Those people need to get paid. ZOS is not a charity, it is a business.

Thing is ESO has the highest split towards the cash shop of any MMO
ESO has barely any "veteranship" catalogue of items to show compared to the other competitor MMOs on the market

ESO in-game rewards are pretty bad. It does give you about 1500 crowns per month of membership but buying your rewards feels a little strange. If you look at an MMO with a massive player base they can generally offer more for less (ex WoW/FFXIV). When you look at a smaller player base game they charge more money for less (ex EVE Online). I believe ESO is somewhere in the middle here. If it gains players it could get better, if it loses players it likely will get worse.

MMO's in general are charging for basically everything. FFXIV has a big cash shop, and WoW has a smaller one but still. ESO cash shop is the worse of them all. I bought my friend the base game of ESO and he just doesn't like how everything is sold. So to some people, it's just totally offputting.

I think if you really want to find something more on the classic experience (sub and earn everything in-game) you have to look elsewhere. Two games I can think of is City of Heroes, and Final Fantasy XI. Might be more but you're going to have to go back to older MMOs.

MMO's have just changed, as others have said the cost of doing business is high and gaming has long been the best value for entertainment. Cash shops, and pay to progress / win in games will just become the norm.

The mounts are all the same, speed - stamina - pack. It´s just cosmetics. Fun, but not necessary. They could really mix that up more, for there to be actual incentive to get another.
Merle Feb 25, 2024 @ 10:21am
I know the mounts are all the same mechanically but it would be nice to have some rewards to earn in-game outside of events?? This is probably a huge reason why nobody sticks with this game. They act like because the subscription is "optional" the devs can just be incredibly greedy and stingy with in-game rewards. Almost everyone who plays this game is subscribed to make the game less bad. They could afford to have a single artist design mounts to be earned in-game. All they have to do is slap the existing mount code on a new model. They instead choose for almost every single mount to be in the shop or in lootboxes. They intentionally make the game worse and I won't be playing much longer because of it.

I main FF14 I only decided to check out ESO while waiting for the new FF14 expansion. I don't defend FF14's cash shop either, but at least in that game i am not psychologically manipulated into visiting the store. I completely forget the store exists in FF14 cause I don't want anything from it and it's not heavily advertised in-game like it is in ESO. I know the excuse will be because FF14 has a subscription model so they can afford to be more generous, but ESO surely could be generous at least SOMETIMES rather than choosing to be greedy nearly 100% of the time.

I get annoyed when mounts exclusively come to the cash shop in FF14 too, but it's a rarity in that game. Probably about 90% of the mounts in FF14 are earnable in-game. It gives reasons for people to play the game. I guess thats why FF14 is successful and this game has fewer players than Skyrim on steam.

Right, an Indrik. Just one, retextured numerous times but they're all the same mount.
