Gave you a heart. ^^
And this topic is different, about monetization and there is also content creator Azura's video on the same issue, it is very important topic for majority of ESO players, many are so tired to the greed and bad system, where most rewards are in shop and not in the game.
Since it also affects the whole game designs, making it lazy. So they do not even make in game content feel as rewarding, since most rewards are - yes you know already, in the Crown Store.
Yeah, and the people are so tired to that situation already.
So talking about this and giving feedback is important. Not sure if they will listen to all the content creators and their own players, but at least will try. I feel people, their own players, would be way more happy while playing if felt they are respected as customers and gaming would feel like being rewarded again for doing challenges, not just being so Crown Store focused.
In the beginning years, everything you say about this game being a Cash Shop, definitely felt very true. But, over the years, especially since you can Gift Crowns to players and sell them for Gold now, that is no longer the real case. Me personally, I have bought every single DLC that is available in the Crown Store with Gold I accumulated in the game doing a ton of Crafting Writs on many Characters, along with anything else in the Crown Store that I wanted to get. Nothing is out of reach for me at all and I don't spend a dime.
The Chapters that get released, however... are a different matter. You can't buy that with Crowns or in-game Gold. Though I love this game, I can never bring myself to pre-order or even pay full price for the Chapter. I always wait for it to be on sale. The first sale of a Chapter is usually 35% off, then later on it always goes to 50% off, and those sales are when I buy it... that's just being smart, period. Also, I like that a Chapter is out for a while before I buy it, everything has some kinks that need to be ironed out first, a bug here, a bug there, or wait for the PvP whiners to complain about something that came out that is just OP and ruin it for everyone else, forcing the Devs to nerf it.
And though that is irritating to have to go through, especially something that I paid for, it doesn't bother me much. And the reason why it doesn't bother me is because I believe that attempting to truly balance out a huge game, such as an MMO, is one of the most difficult things anyone can do. Yes, a lot of ppl have their thoughts, ideas, theories on how this can be solved... which I'm not saying those thoughts and ideas aren't good, but there are so many different ppl with different mind sets involved in this, it is impossible to please everyone. Also, the biggest reason why it doesn't bother me, is that I enjoy playing this game. I like having a game that I like to play a lot. And in order for that game to continue being playable, especially something this massive, it needs to be able to make money in order for it to maintain itself, being maintenance, nerfs, buffs, QoL updates, fixes, DLC's, more content, ect. I mean no one buys a car and thinks it's going to last forever and not have to put money into it at times to keep running.
One of the biggest things that I think why ESO is superior to most, if not all, MMO's out there, is that it is constantly getting bigger. Every single year more content is added. No other MMO does that. Yes, other MMO's do come out with more content every couple to every few years, but NOT every single year. Can you imagine how difficult that actually is... to have new content to a big game every single year? And it's not just, "Oh... a little zone over here is new, cool." No, it's a huge zone, sometimes 2 zones, huge story line, voiced narration, sometimes things you've never seen, some things that you seen before and are glad to see come back, and sometimes a new Class added to the game, or a new system added to the game. I mean where the hell is the credit for all this stuff constantly coming out, despite a bug here and there, which is understandable when it involves something this huge? You know where all this comes from? Because the game is making money, and they're giving us more and more stuff for that. That alone is a huge effort, and I greatly appreciate that. So when I think about what money I've spent on the game, it doesn't bother me because it assures me that I can continue playing a game I really enjoy playing, despite some hiccups.
ESO has never been good for combat or group content. You may have liked it, but it wasn't good.
What ESO is good for is build diversity and content diversity. It's a very casual MMO to hang out in.
That's how it is for every MMO. Each one is good in a couple areas and bad in others.
There are PLENTY of in-game rewards but... you have them all. They simply cannot churn out content anywhere near as fast as you can complete it.
One thing everyone seems to forget is inflation. It hits the video game industry too. The money you give them now is worth less than it was when ESO launched, but they didn't increase the prices.
MMOs that have been out for a while have already found their niche and won't be improving. ESO is not going to have a good group endgame nor will PvP be making a comeback. It will continue on this path until Zenimax pumps out a new MMO and sunsets this one.
You've been on the GW2 forum, watching people make similar claims against that game. You can go to ANY MMO forum and find threads with people complaining about the weaker aspects of the game.
Game is dead isn't a new concept - message boards have been tucking into this morsel for decades; but the new thing is how people tend to treat it like a bandwagon of nihilism - forgetting that games always have to end at some point and will RARELY suddenly disappear (see Marvel Heroes and abuse at the top).
ESO can't be 'saved' because ESO doesn't need saving - it's part of the issue that people just refuse to accept. It's always been about making money until it doesn't. THIS. WILL. NOT. CHANGE.
Either play the game and enjoy it, or don't. There is no saving it, there is no making absurd statements thinking you have the answer, you do not. You need to move on and enjoy another game <3
Let's talk more in depth once you have experienced the full endgame for long enough to see it for what it is, and how it functions compared to other similar games. :)
It is eye opening experience for most.
It is so poorly managed sadly, compared to what it could be. Since the game has true potential, but it's been wasted by the current Dev team.
You know or have played games like that? That has big potential, but the Devs been making their best to make the game suck for years and big chunks of their old and most loyal players have left? This is one of those games.
Yes, for a new player in the "honeymoon phase" it can feel great, and of course there are some of the old "fanatics" left who talk about the game like it was their family member and gets triggered when someone says critical feedback about it.. but when you watch content creators and see it for yourself when do the endgame long enough and see how badly the combat team does it's job and how poor the reward structure and monetization is compared to MOST other similar games.. then you will know.
BUT, i am not saying some people cannot enjoy the game, it's good if some can. So enjoy while feel like it. :)
I am just here to tell about the negative sides too, that is why Steam exists, for game issues and reviews so people can discuss (sometimes vent out frustrations because of games working poorly) games.
I say it like this: If game needs "defenders", then the game is doing something wrong, good games do not need such, because there are no people complaining about issues. And here the issues are real.
I hope you have a great day tho and enjoy any game you like. ^^
Yeah i have seen it all. In so many MMO forums i have played, also even in FF14 forums. It has it's own special cases, oh the archetypes you know for sure very well too, since seen you around also. ^^
I have seen things, things you would not believe. :P
It's the same in there too, in FF14 forums, with couple of the "one guy'd" types who all write same style enough to actually be like the same person from ALL of the said game forums, like someone who does it as their full time personal "content", if can say it that. It's low effort though without imagination, more like copy paste tier.. you know, like once you read one message, no need for more and no surprises incoming, and does not miss anything if puts in Block list, because knows there won't be any pearls in forms of posts incoming also in future.
Like when you realize that you can make better memes about their posts with more creativity than what they did with their originals. It's a priceless feeling. ^^
You are a smart person though based of your posts, mind of analytic thoughts. So you get my point and motives i believe. It is not "trolling" i can assure you about that.
I do admit i am passionate about mmo games, if i would not care, i would not give critical feedback, apathy is the sign of not caring. As i have said, one of the fun memories of mmo games were the times me and my bestie did grind her Empress title the 1st time, we were so tired but laughed in comms all the time, around the clock to silly things. So yes, there was a time i loved ESO. But i feel i am allowed to give negative feedback when it is earned. Some people just do not want to listen any negative feedback or they take it personally. When i only talk about the game, and improving the game and fixing issues would also help others, not just me.
I have full account, full of cool stuff, shinies, radiant apex mounts, fancy titles.. all of that, waiting for me to go back playing.. IF they actually fix their game and make it great again. But i fear they do not even care anymore. It's a sad feeling.
now you post the same stuff again in a new thread for what?
I get that you don't like ESO anymore. The communities disbanded, that you played with in the past. The content, that gets released don't appeal to you.
But what on earth is the point of this post except farming visibility to get some steam awards? I mean you continued the last post for weeks/months even after the "ESO is dying" point was disproven.
It's obvious, that you don't want to return to ESO. Why even camp the steam forum with its like 10 users all day?
and pls stop argumenting with feelings. we are not in the US (i mean not everyone at least).
